    Description

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support student within and outside of the general education classroom according to their IEP (Individual Educational Program) or 504 Plan
    • Work with the classroom teacher and assist in the classroom as the teacher deems appropriate. This may include, but not limited to giving frequent breaks, making modifications for the student and working with diverse learning styles
    • Work with moderate and/or severe special needs population, such as learning disabilities, emotional disturbance, autism, or intellectual disabilities
    • Implement current IEP and data collection under supervision of Special Education teacher or liaison
    • Assist school staff by implementing student accommodations according to individual IEPs, 504 Plans, Behavior Intervention Plans, and/or the District Curriculum Accommodation Plan.
    • Work with student to implement accommodations and modifications
    • Assist student within all settings of the day which may include classroom, specialists, lunch and recess.
    • May assist student with mobility, transitions, self-care (toileting, feeding, dressing), and implementing IEP related care plans, requiring lifting, bending, and working with adaptive equipment, under teacher supervision, to support learning and daily functioning for students with disabilities.     • Ability to participate in professional development and training opportunities to support student needs
    • Implement PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports) strategies
    • Maintain professional working relationships with all staff
    • Attend staff meetings as designated by Educational Assistant Contract
    • Maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of their work with all students and staff.
    • Other related duties as assigned by Principal or designee
