Description
Under the supervision of the Dean, provides individualized or group related learning support to students who fall in a program under the Learn Pillar. Assists in the Learning process by providing professional services for the specific courses the Educational Assistant is assigned to. Work is generally diversified based on individual needs of the instructor and student. Judgment and analysis are required in making decisions within established procedures. Daily responsibilities are completed independently using established policies and general objectives with occasional supervisory contact for policy clarification or interpretation.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Engagement in Learning Support and Student Services Fosters learning and study skill behaviors that empower students to achieve their academic objectives. Identifies learning behaviors, devises strategies, and predicts learning outcomes to aid students in reaching their academic goals. Determines and schedules suitable support and tutoring methods for students. Offers tutoring assistance for specific academic skills and subjects, aligned with classroom instruction and in collaboration with faculty when necessary. Manages makeup test proctoring services for MATC students.
Operational Oversight and Student Assistance Takes charge of maintaining designated spaces and equipment, establishing and enforcing regulations, and managing inventory of supplies and equipment. Addresses student concerns related to computers, class issues, software applications including blackboard, class schedules, financial aid applications, web-based homework platforms, computer support equipment, and audio/visual systems. Updates inventory and data, prepares reports, study guides, and reference materials. Maintains files, databases, and progress records, and acts as a liaison between students and faculty. Assists in the recruitment, interviewing, application, hiring, and training of tutors.
Ethical Standards and Confidentiality Demonstrates honesty by consistently adhering to strong moral and ethical principles, emphasizing truthfulness and accuracy in all actions. Ensures that all involved in the educational process understand and uphold its integrity,
Information Provision and In-Service Participation Offers general information about MATC and relevant support services, referring students to other departments or services to meet their educational needs.
Collaborative Teamwork: Establishes maintains, and enhances positive work relationships with staff, faculty, students and administrators.
Continuous Learning and Professional Development Maintains current knowledge of best practices and standards in higher education with an emphasis on community Colleges. Actively organizes and/or participates in applicable workgroups, trainings, workshops, seminars, committees and professional associations or conferences to promote continuous learning.
Other duties Performs other related duties within the scope of the position as required for the efficient operation of the division and to support institutional objectives.
Qualifications
Compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards/requirements, as well as all MATC policies and procedures.
Required Education & Experience An associates degree and two years of experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of instructional and related procedures as appropriate for a tutoring program.
Basic knowledge and skills of office operation and management.
Familiarity with the instructional process and use of instructional media.
Skilled in operating and maintaining specialized equipment, including software related to the development of instructional materials and presentations.
Ability to understand and support the student-teacher relationship.
Ability to work in a team environment. Organizational skill and ability to work independently.
Strong verbal, written, analytical, and persuasive skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management.
Extensive ability to utilize databases, student information systems and Microsoft Office Suite including Excel and Word and the initiative to apply queries and reports.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, outside governmental and community agencies, and the general public.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse educational and socio-economic backgrounds.
Supplemental Information
This is a part-time, in-person position (up to 19 hours per week) based primarily at the Downtown Milwaukee campus. Standard hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday
Compensation Salary pay rates are listed up to the midpoint of the range and placement is determined based on years of experience, internal salary equity, and a review of the applicants employment and educational background as listed on the job application.

HEALTH INSURANCE: MATC offers a choice between two medical insurance plans. See below for plan types:
1- UMR High Level PPO
2- UMR Low Level PPO
Note: All medical plans include Prescription Drug benefits at no additional costs to employees.
DENTAL INSURANCE: MATC offers a traditional group dental plan through Delta Dental.
Annual maximum per covered person is $2,500; plan covers preventive, routine, restoration, and orthodontics for dependents up to age 19.
GROUP TERM LIFE INSURANCE: MATC offers group life insurance benefits through Symetra Provident Insurance with active assignment and is fully paid for by the College. The amount of insurance is $15,000. The benefit is doubled in the event of accidental death.
RETIREMENT BENEFITS: If you are employed for greater than 12 months and meet the minimum hours requirement for participation in the WRS pension system, you will be notified of your eligibility. The College currently pays the full cost of the employer contribution (6.9%), and the employee pays the full part of the employee contribution of 6.9% of salary. There is a five year vesting period requirement in order to qualify for any employer contributions made on the employees behalf.
FLEXIBLE SPENDING PLANS: MATC offers eligible employees the opportunity to participate in both Health Care and Dependent Care flexible spending accounts administered through UMR.
SICK LEAVE BENEFITS: Sick leave hours granted based on hours worked in summary from 8/15 of previous year through 8/14 of current year. The maximum hours accumulation is 640 hours.
VACATION BENEFITS: Vacation hours granted based on hours worked summary from 3/15 of previous year through 3/14 of current year (Not available for Instructors)
PAID HOLIDAYS: MATC offers paid/flex holidays based on position.
