Educational Assistant
Bultum Academy is a growing, community-focused charter school located in Columbia Heights, serving students in grades PreK–8. We are currently seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered Educational Assistant to support teachers and students in creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
Position Overview
The Educational Assistant works under the direction of licensed teachers and school administrators to support student learning, classroom instruction, and daily school operations. This position provides instructional, behavioral, and academic support to individual students and small groups while helping maintain a safe, organized, and productive classroom environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers with classroom instruction, small-group activities, and one-on-one student support.
- Support students academically, socially, and behaviorally throughout the school day.
- Reinforce lessons and instructional strategies provided by the classroom teacher.
- Assist with implementing accommodations and interventions for students as directed by teachers or special education staff.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, field trips, and other school activities as assigned.
- Help prepare instructional materials, organize classroom resources, and maintain an orderly learning environment.
- Foster positive relationships with students while promoting appropriate behavior and a respectful classroom culture.
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, specialists, administrators, and families to support student success.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information and comply with school policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the needs of the school.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must meet Minnesota Educational Assistant requirements by passing the required paraprofessional assessment or possessing at least 60 college credits or an Associate's degree.
- Experience working with children in an educational or youth-focused setting is preferred.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
- Demonstrated patience, flexibility, and a genuine passion for supporting student learning and success.
