Position Summary

Under supervision of assigned supervisor/manager, performs responsible clerical and recordkeeping duties for an educational center.

This position is assigned to the Davis Center, a satellite location of Sacramento City College. The Davis Center is a state-of-the-art learning environment that includes modern lab classrooms, student services, a Learning Resource Center, computer lab, and study space. The Davis Center first offered classes in Davis in 1966. After constant growth, a brand-new facility was opened in the University of California Davis's West Village in 2012, followed by a second building in 2018. The Davis Center offers general education classes, with a focus on STEM and Healthcare courses, allowing students to work towards a transfer or completion of an Associate's degree.

Typical Duties

Serve as a contact and resource person for instructors, students, employers, staff, and the community at an educational center; perform general office duties in support of center staff and faculty, such as answering phones, preparing correspondence, filing, and recordkeeping; explain college educational programs, and College/District policies and procedures to individuals and community organizations; provide information in response to inquiries regarding classes; assist in conducting orientation sessions; maintain a library of materials and catalogs; assist in ordering supplies and educational materials; coordinate arrangements for use of facilities with appropriate personnel; prepare payroll records and maintain files; assemble data and prepare reports; provide data for institutional research; assist in preparing surveys and other measuring tools to be used in assessing the needs of the community; assist with follow-up studies and activities relating to the evaluation of services provided by the center; prepare and duplicate letters, programs, directories, mailing lists; prepare and distribute informational fliers on center classes and events; assist in the preparation of course registration packets; assist in the preparation of marketing and promotional materials; oversee temporary employees; assist students to enroll in classes; collect fees; maintain records of budget accounts for the center; make periodic reports on class enrollment and other activities; assist in scheduling classes held in the community; assist in locating and securing sites; perform related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

EXPERIENCE: Three years of experience related to the duties of the position.

EDUCATION: College course work from an accredited institution in business and clerical education may be substituted for two years of the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Promotional: Two years of experience in Los Rios Community College District performing clerical duties. (Promotional applies to regular, current Classified employees working with the Los Rios Community College District.)

(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at 40 hours per week. Applicable part-time experience will be converted to the full-time equivalent for purposes of meeting the experience requirement. Education Requirement: One year of education is equal to 30 semester units.)

Los Rios Community College District offers competitive salaries and a very comprehensive employee benefits package to include medical insurance, CalPERS retirement, and opportunities for additional insurance and financial investments.

Full-time, twelve-month employees receive 18 days of annual paid holidays, 15 days' vacation yearly (with increases after 5 & 10 years), and 8 hours of sick leave per month. Los Rios also offers professional development opportunities with the district and financial support and/or paid time off to complete external academic studies. You are eligible for the aforementioned benefits as a regular employee with a permanent assignment of 0.50 FTE or greater. To calculate this position's FTE, take the number of hours per week divided by 40, to get the percentage of hours worked. Then take the number of months worked divided by 12, to get the percentage of work year. Then take the percentage of hours worked multiplied by the percentage of months worked to get the position's FTE (e.g., a position that is 30 hours per week with a work year of 10 months: 30/40 = 0.75; 10/12 = 0.8333; 0.75 * 0.8333 = 0.625 FTE).
