Elm City Montessori School, launched in August 2014, is New Haven's first public Montessori school. We currently serve approximately 320 students between the ages of 3 and 13. New Haven, Connecticut is a thriving arts, cultural, and education hub, located in the center of a growing community of public Montessori schools.
The Extended Day Counselor will support the success of the after-school play-based program. S/he will contribute to the education, social-emotional development, and safety of children ages 3-10. The Counselor's role is to support children in a student-centered learning environment appropriate to the intellectual, physical, social, and emotional needs of all learners. This role includes significant time outdoors during all seasons, and reports to the Extended Day Coordinator.
Position is: 10-Month, Part Time (Monday-Friday, 8:00-8:45 AM and/or (Monday-Friday, 3:15-5:30 PM)
Qualifications: Warmth, joy, and professionalism in your interactions with children and colleagues. The ideal applicant has some experience with Montessori pedagogy and/or public school education, collaborating as a member of a team, supervising children, and supporting instruction for students with special needs. S/he is kind, caring, compassionate, enthusiastic, well- organized, bilingual (Spanish), and creative with excellent written and oral communication skills. High school and college students with experience in childcare are encouraged to apply.
Compensation: $16.94/hour-$20/ hr based on degree and experience in a related field
