Position Summary
The Kindergarten Paraeducator works collaboratively with the classroom teacher to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral growth of young learners. The paraeducator provides instructional and classroom support while fostering student independence and maintaining a positive, inclusive classroom culture.
Essential Responsibilities
? Support the classroom teacher in implementing daily instructional activities and routines.
? Provide individual and small-group instructional support, under the direction of the classroom teacher, to reinforce previously taught skills in literacy, mathematics, and
other content areas.
? Reinforce classroom expectations and assist with positive behavior supports.
? Build positive, caring relationships with students while promoting independence, confidence, and self-regulation.
? Assist with classroom organization, preparation of instructional materials, and learning centers.
? Supervise students during classroom activities, transitions, lunch, recess, arrival, dismissal, and other assigned duties.
? Support students with personal care needs as appropriate, including dressing for outdoor activities, snack, and bathroom routines when necessary.
? Monitor student engagement and communicate observations to the classroom teacher.
? Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and school matters.
? Collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, specialists, interventionists, administrators, and support staff.
? Participate in professional learning opportunities and staff meetings as assigned.
? Performs other delegated responsibilities as assigned by the classroom teacher or building principal
Qualifications
? High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree or coursework in education preferred. (Passing score on ParaPro test is also required.)
? Experience working with young children in an educational or childcare setting preferred.
? Demonstrated ability to establish positive relationships with children.
? Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
? Ability to remain calm, patient, flexible, and organized in a fast-paced environment.
? Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
? Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a school team.
