NOTICE OF VACANCY

Southington Public Schools

Paraeducator Positions ~ 31.25 (full-time), 27.5 (part-time), and less than 27.5 (part-time)

SALARY: $19.43 per hour

$1.85 hourly rate adjustment for all hours worked and paid time off during the designated school year for the following programs:

Comprehensive Learning Center, Specialized Learning Center, Therapeutic Learning Center, STELLAR

ASSIGNMENTS:

Assignments for paraeducators vary. There are three categories associated with paraeducators:

• Program. Attached is a list of programs throughout our District with a description of each.
• Inclusion. Our inclusion paraeducators support the needs of special education students.
• Other. Other assignments for paraeducators could include cafeteria, kindergarten, library/media, or other special assignments.

OVERVIEW OF DUTIES THAT ARE/COULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH PARAEDUCATOR POSITION:

• Ability to work with students with special learning and social/behavioral needs.
• Able to carry out behavior plans.
• Flexibility/Team member.
• Lifting of students may be required.
• Toileting and/or diaper changing may be required.
• Experience working with school age children.
• Physical and Psychological Training (PMT) certification preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Associate degree or equivalent required. Para Pro exam available at applicants cost of $55.00. Behavioral management skills for children. Ability to work in active environment with groups of children and ability to take direction from multiple staff.
