Ben Bronz Academy is seeking a compassionate, structured, and detail-oriented Educational Paraprofessional to join our collaborative multidisciplinary team. In this role, you will provide critical academic, organizational, and behavioral support to students with severe learning disabilities (such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, executive functioning issues, and ADHD). Working closely with Special Education Teachers, you will help implement individualized education programs (IEPs) and foster a highly structured environment where students build independence, academic remediation skills, and self-confidence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instructional Support & Remediation:

  • Deliver 1:1 and small-group academic instruction reinforcing concepts introduced by the special education teacher.

  • Support foundational literacy, decoding, and math programs using the schools specialized, hands-on remedial methodologies.

  • Assist students in developing crucial executive functioning skills, including time management, organization of materials, and task initiation.

  • Behavior Management & Academic Engagement:

  • Support a safe, distraction-free learning environment by reinforcing classroom rules, routines, and positive behavior support strategies.

  • Help students remain focused, engaged, and on-task during instructional periods, providing gentle redirection when necessary.

  • Progress Tracking & Documentation:

  • Assist teachers in observing and tracking daily student performance, academic growth, and work completion to support data-driven IEP decisions.

  • Maintain accurate student records and progress documentation in compliance with school policies.

  • Classroom Management & Collaboration:

  • Assist the classroom teacher with lesson preparation, material organization, and overall student supervision throughout the school day (including transitions, lunch, and recess).

  • Actively participate in collaborative team meetings, school-wide professional development workshops, and student progress reviews.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education: High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, Psychology, or a related field is highly preferred.

  • Certifications:

  • Passing score on the ParaPro PRAXIS exam (or 60+ college credits).

  • Physical Management Training (PMT) and CPR/First Aid certifications are advantageous.

  • Experience: Proven experience working with children or adolescents with learning disabilities, ADHD, or executive functioning challenges in an educational or clinical setting.

  • Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with a tight-knit professional staff.

  • High emotional intelligence, profound patience, and adaptability to handle fast-paced or evolving classroom dynamics.

  • Proficiency with educational technology and basic digital tracking systems.
