Job Description:

POSITION: Reading Paraeducator

• Part-Time: 25 hours per week

Putnam Elementary School is seeking a caring, flexible, and dependable individual to join our team as a Reading Paraeducator. This part-time position supports students in developing essential reading skills by providing small group and individual assistance, reinforcing classroom instruction, and encouraging a positive attitude toward reading. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to helping young learners succeed, collaborate closely with teachers, and foster an inclusive, supportive environment where all students can build confidence and grow as readers. MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Instructional Support: Provide targeted individual and small-group reading support under the direction of certified staff.
• Skill Reinforcement: Reinforce foundational literacy concepts, phonics, fluency, and comprehension strategies.
• Classroom Collaboration: Work closely with classroom teachers and reading specialists to support intervention plans and monitor student growth.
• Positive Environment: Foster an encouraging, inclusive, and structured learning environment that promotes confidence in reading skills.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent (Required).
• Credentialing: Successful completion of the ParaPro / ParaPathways Assessment OR at least 60 college credits (2 years) from an accredited institution (Required).
• Experience: Experience working in a school system preferred; experience supporting students in reading intervention programs preferred.
• Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, patience, empathy, and ability to follow certified staff directives.

START DATE: Immediate Opening

RATE OF PAY & BENEFITS:

• Rate of Pay: $20.36 - $22.50 per hour (based on contractual requirements)
• Benefits: Benefits provided as determined by the bargaining agreement contract.
