    Job Description:

    A special education paraeducator supports certified educators by providing instructional assistance to students with intensive needs, helping maintain a conducive learning environment, and promoting positive student engagement. This role is crucial in enhancing the educational experience by offering individualized help and aiding in classroom management, ultimately fostering student success and adherence to educational standards.

    • Assist teachers in delivering lesson plans and educational activities.
    • Provide individualized support to intensive needs students based on their learning needs.
    • Help manage classroom behavior to ensure a safe learning environment.
    • Prepare instructional materials and resources for student use.

    Requirements

    • Experience working with Intensive special needs students preferrd.
    • Experience working with children in a school environment preferred.
    • Graduation from an accredited high school.
    • In order to be considered for the paraprofessional position, the applicant must pass a physical examination, a background check and a drug test.
    • Must be physically able to operate a variety of automated office machines and equipment; including but not limited to computer, facsimile machine, copier and telephone.
    • Must be able to move or carry job related objects or materials
    • Must be physically capable of reaching to obtain various books, file boxes, computer paper.
    • Must be able to physically restrain a child if necessary
    • Requires the knowledge and ability to assist in language arts and mathematics instruction.
    • Must have strong oral and written language skills
    • Requires the ability to read a variety of professional, technical and administrative documents, directions, regulations, methods and procedures.
    • Requires the ability to effectively communicate with staff and students
    • Requires the ability to interact appropriately with a variety of people
    • Requires ability to interact appropriately with colleagues and supervisors
    • Requires working knowledge of basic computer functions including, but not limited to: PC and chromebook operations, google suites, email functions
