EE Value Optimization Engineer - Electrical Systems & Technical Optimization

Mission

Identify and develop cost and value-optimization opportunities for automotive electrical and electronic systems. The engineer will focus on wiring harnesses, ECUs, embedded technologies, infotainment, connectivity, and ADAS while protecting quality, performance, safety, customer experience, and program timing.

Key Responsibilities

• Systems Analysis: Analyze E/E systems and components for cost, complexity, feature, and integration optimization.

• Idea Generation: Develop engineering optimization ideas across harnesses, ECUs, embedded hardware/software, infotainment, telematics, and ADAS.

• Benchmarking: Benchmark competitor technologies, specifications, and E/E architectures.

• Change Evaluation: Review engineering changes and cost notices for technical feasibility and financial impact.

• Stakeholder Alignment: Evaluate technical feasibility with Engineering, Purchasing, Finance, Quality, Manufacturing, Validation, and Tier-1 suppliers.

• Architecture Integrity: Assess impacts on E/E architecture, diagnostics, cybersecurity, functional safety, EMC, thermal performance, and customer experience.

• Business Case Creation: Prepare robust business cases covering piece cost, tooling investment, timing, risk, and expected savings.

• Commercial Workshops: Support supplier workshops, teardown reviews, should-cost analysis, and technical commercial negotiations.

• Implementation: Coordinate design changes, validation activities, release milestones, and production implementation.

• Savings Booking: Track technical opportunities and provide technical evidence for Finance validation and official savings booking.

Profile

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.

• Experience: 3-5 years of experience in automotive E/E systems engineering, design release, supplier engineering, cost optimization, or value engineering.

• Domain Expertise: Demonstrated expertise in at least two areas: wiring harnesses, ECUs/embedded electronics, infotainment, connectivity/telematics, or ADAS.

• E/E Fundamentals: Solid understanding of automotive E/E architecture, vehicle diagnostics, and hardware/software integration.

• Technical Review: Ability to evaluate technical specifications, engineering change notices, test results, and supplier technical proposals.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of CAN, LIN, Automotive Ethernet, AUTOSAR, cybersecurity, functional safety (ISO 26262), or EMC standards.

• Hands-on experience with benchmarking, teardown analysis, should-cost models, and supplier cost breakdowns.

• Familiarity with OEM product development, engineering change management, release, and validation processes.

• Working knowledge of TCR or similar engineering savings-tracking systems.
