Role: EEG Technologist
Core Duties:
- Perform routine and advanced EEG studies including inpatient, ICU, and long-term monitoring (LTM) procedures.
- Conduct continuous EEG monitoring for critically ill patients and identify abnormal patterns.
- Assist with intraoperative neurophysiological monitoring and neurosurgical EEG procedures.
- Apply electrodes using the international 10–20 system and maintain signal integrity throughout studies.
- Operate and troubleshoot EEG equipment, including Nihon Kohden systems.
- Document findings and events accurately within CPRS and neurodiagnostic systems.
- Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, and clinical staff to support patient care.
- Maintain infection control, patient safety, and equipment standards in all clinical environments.
- Setting: Hospital-based role
- Departments: Neurology / ICU / Operating Room
- Procedures: EEG, Long-Term Monitoring (LTM), ICU EEG, intraoperative monitoring, neurosurgical procedures
- Equipment: Nihon Kohden EEG systems
- Systems Used: CPRS (VA EHR)
- Shift Hours: Varied shifts (days, evenings, nights)
- Heavy on-call coverage requirement
- Weekends and holidays as needed
- Flexible scheduling based on patient care demands
Contract Length: 1 year additional 4 year extension
Substantial EEG experience required; candidates should have performed 200 EEGs with preference for LTM and ICU monitoring experience.
- Licensed EEG Technologist
- CPR certification required
- Formal EEG training or degree required
- ABRET certification (R. EEG T.) or board eligibility preferred
- Must be able to work independently in high-acuity environments.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for EEG equipment and monitoring systems required.
- Must maintain professional conduct and comply with VA policies.
