    Description

    About CHAOS Industries

Founded in 2022 and backed by $1 billion in funding from 8VC, Accel, and NEA, CHAOS operates at the intersection of defense and deep tech. The mission is direct: give operators time to detect, decide, and act before threats evolve.

The company is headquartered in Los Angeles, with offices in Washington D.C., San Francisco, and London.

    The Opportunity

CHAOS is looking for a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to join the R&D team and own the design and implementation of embedded software across their effector product families. This is a hands-on role with broad technical scope, working on software-defined radio platforms where low-level firmware decisions have direct impact on system performance.

You will work on a small, focused team with real ownership from architecture through deployment. The problems span device drivers, RF hardware interfaces, real-time constraints, and full system integration. If you want to write software that matters in the field, this is that role.

    What You'll Do

    • •      Design and implement high-performance embedded software for software-defined radio platforms
    • •      Develop low-level firmware and software interfaces for complex RF hardware
    • •      Lead firmware and software integration efforts across the product stack
    • •      Support full system integration, testing, and validation through deployment
    • •      Collaborate closely with hardware, RF, and systems engineers on a small, fast-moving team

    You Should Have

    • •      10+ years of professional embedded software development experience
    • •      Strong experience with Linux embedded development and device drivers
    • •      Proficiency in C/C++ for embedded systems and real-time programming
    • •      Python experience for scripting, automation, and system integration
    • •      Experience with real-time operating systems and bare-metal programming
    • •      Experience developing software for ARM-based embedded platforms
    • •      Experience developing embedded software for software-defined radios or radio transceiver chips
    • •      Familiarity with modern software development practices including Git, CI/CD, and automated testing
    • •      U.S. Person status required

    Nice to Have

    • •      Experience with Analog Devices RF transceivers or the Linux IIO framework
    • •      Experience integrating with AMD/Xilinx FPGAs, Nvidia GPUs, or other heterogeneous computing architectures
    • •      Experience implementing and optimizing low-latency, high-throughput signal processing algorithms
    • •      FPGA development experience in VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog
    • •      Hardware-in-the-loop testing and validation experience
    • •      Experience with full lifecycle software development and deployment of high-TRL systems
    • •      Current or previous DoD security clearance

    Compensation and Benefits

Base Salary: $160,000 - $240,000, depending on experience
