Length of Contract: Up to 6 months

Position Description:
Our client is seeking an experienced EH&S specialist to help drive safety efforts as the final construction phase of 500,000 square-foot bio-tech facility wraps up and the Certificate of Occupancy becomes the focus. This individual will collaborate with multiple teams, take responsibility for reviewing and approving daily job plans, and ensuring that safety remains the number one goal. You will be responsible for hazard mitigation, ensuring that all final commissioning and punch list activities are performed safely while maintaining strict enforcement of company standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Pre-Work Planning & Approval: Review and sign-off on safety measures accompanying daily job plans. Ensure that all high-risk activities are mapped out with robust Safe Plans of Action (SPAs) before commencement.
  • Job Hazard Analysis (JHA): Conduct comprehensive reviews and JHAs for final-phase tasks including high-ceiling work, electrical, dry wall, and punch-list finishing tasks.
  • Field Safety Oversight: Provide real-time safety coaching, monitoring teams to ensure compliance, and adherence to safety protocols during the final stages of construction activities.
  • Enforcement & Accountability: Work closely with site management, subcontractors and related personnel to ensure that "safety first" is the priority.
  • Transition Support: Assist in the documentation of any final safety inspections to satisfy regulatory requirements for the Certificate of Occupancy.

Qualifications:
  • 3-5+ years of experience in construction EH&S, specifically in pharma/medtech, industrial or commercial environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to influence, and conflict resolution skills to enforce safety when deadlines are tight (Goal: Certificate of Occupancy)
  • Demonstrated expertise in conducting JHAs and developing detailed SPAs for complex tasks.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and construction-related safety standards.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse trades, contractors, and facility project managers (a collaborative coach who builds consensus but remains firm when enforcing safety requirements of the job site).
  • Proven track record of safety enforcement in fast-paced, high-pressure environment as  deadlines approach.

Education & Certifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Engineering, or related technical field
