Compensation: $20.00 per hour

Hours: 

• Four (4) 10 hour shifts: Tuesday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM

OR

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

The salary range for this position reflects a variety of factors. Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills, and alignment with internal equity. Market conditions, budgetary considerations, and organizational compensation guidelines may also influence the final offer.

Join us as an Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator and put your EHS experience to work supporting our laboratory and office operations. In this role, you’ll coordinate and review environmental, health and safety and hazardous waste programs; maintain records and databases; support inspections and training; and help ensure our practices align with applicable requirements and organizational standards. 

What You’ll Do 

• Provide EHS support across multiple areas of operations, including testing, inspections, reporting, program administration, and related activities. 
• Apply and explain EHS policies, programs, and practices while assisting staff and management with intermediate to complex questions and needs. 
• Conduct inspections of waste containers and waste storage areas, and coordinate the collection of waste containers. 
• Support the laboratory’s radioactive materials program by coordinating low-level radioactive shipments, opening radioactive materials, and conducting radiation surveys. 
• Facilitate EHS training sessions and meetings for employees and leaders. 
• Review, complete, and process logs, forms, documents, databases, and other EHS records and information. 
• Research issues and help develop recommendations that address employee, management, customer, and operational needs. 
• Assist with the review and implementation of EHS policies, practices, and programs. 
• Help maintain compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations, seeking guidance or escalating concerns when needed. 
• Contribute ideas that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of EHS services, and participate as an active member of the team. 
• Represent Pace® through courteous, cooperative interactions that support a safe, respectful, and effective workplace. 

What You’ll Bring 

• High school diploma or equivalent and three years of experience in environmental health and safety, safety operations, or a related field; an associate degree is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered. 
• Working knowledge of intermediate to complex EHS principles, programs, procedures, and administrative practices. 
• Experience with the testing, handling, and disposal of materials, waste, and other potentially hazardous items. 
• Ability to support the daily administration and oversight of EHS programs, policies, and procedures. 
• Ability to research and resolve EHS administrative or technical questions, concerns, and problems. 
• Ability to learn and apply EHS policies and procedures related to laboratory and operational environments. 
• Proficiency with computer applications, databases, forms, documents, and systems used to support the work. 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to provide effective presentations to groups and peers. 
• Ability to interpret and explain organizational policies and procedures, use sound judgment, and handle sensitive matters with tact and discretion. 
• Ability to work effectively as both an individual contributor and project team member while building productive relationships with employees, customers, and other partners. 

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations 

• Continued employment is contingent upon maintaining all required licenses and certificates in active status without suspension or revocation. 
• Hazardous materials shipping certification may be required depending on the area of assignment.

Physical and Working Environment

• This position works in laboratory and office settings and requires the mobility and stamina to use standard office and laboratory equipment and sit for extended periods.
• The role may require exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
• Employees must be able to read printed materials and computer screens and communicate in person and by telephone.
