Provide the necessary health and safety skills and leadership to support the Corporate Safety & Health department to achieve optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity and delivery to assist and develop the overall Safety & Health program. This position is considered intermediate level, learns to apply knowledge to non-routine situations. Work activities are performed using independent judgment, seeking guidance and direction when needed.

JOB TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:

The following job/task functions have been identified as the core functions of this position. However, the Health & Safety Director or Area Safety Managers may assign additional duties associated with this position.

 

  • Support the Company’s mission, vision, values and goals in the performance of daily activities.
  • Provide support consistent with corporate safety plan goals as a resource for the S&H team.
  • Support health and safety compliance and management system functions and activities.   Maintain communications with S&H Director, Area S&H Managers and plant EHS Managers.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the annual EHS Training plan and objectives targeted at driving safety performance and achieving leading indicator goals established by Autokiniton.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the annual EHS Safety plan and objectives targeted at driving safety performance and achieving leading indicator goals established by Autokiniton.
  • Support the development and maintenance of the annual EHS Site Specific Safety plan and objectives targeted at driving safety performance and achieving leading indicator goals established by Autokiniton.

·         Share Safety Boot Camp administration and facilitation duties.

  • Share administration duties of AIC with corporate H&S.
  • Share administration duties of the Corp HS SharePoint site.
  • Participate in Industrial Hygiene sampling as needed.
  • Facilitate Ergonomic training workshops.
  • Assist Area HR Managers and Facility managers, as necessary, to support site specific Ergo plan development and execution.
  • Support the ALP process by attending machine buy offs with Area Managers to learn how to check equipment builds, how to document, how to communicate the outputs of the NMRE process. 
  • Support the process for ensuring the necessary safety and health training, tools and materials that will benefit the plants with their responsibilities in S&H requirements.  
  • Develop and execute the H&S annual auditing regimen regarding SHARP, GSR Internal and External and any other audits as required.
  • Manage and track the progress of plants actions and completion of open items from audits
  • Assist with coordination of S&H training for the plants and SME training.
  • Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.
  • Systematically support and coordinate the implementation of strategic actions to reduce work related injuries and illnesses (e.g. ergonomic process, layered process auditing, Job Safety Risk Analysis (JSRA), physical hazard auditing, behavior-based safety process).
  • Assist in the development and coordination of all safety training, policies and procedures.
  • Stay up to date, through training, with applicable regulations for our industry and manufacturing types.
  • Support the development of and deliver training and/or training tools on all relevant internal S&H initiatives and regulatory requirements.
  • Support and assist with corporate S&H activities, including safety functions, events and campaigns while achieving quality, productivity and cost reduction goals.
  • Work with corporate S&H team to provide injury and safety information, statistics and data to assist plants in educating, improving and maintaining strong S&H programming.
  • Adherence to all company policies and procedures (eg. Health & Safety Policy, Cardinal Rules of Safety, General Health & Safety Policy, Safety Procedures, Quality Policy Manual, Associate Handbook, etc.).
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all duties.


Required Skills

·         Bachelor’s Degree in a safety related field or environmental science or equivalent experience.

·         Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in the EHS field. 

·         Excellent organizational, analytical and communication skills.

·         Strong technical and computer skills are required; including ability to work with the following software packages or programs:  Microsoft Office applications at an intermediate level; Effective email and electronic communication skills, macro enabled workbooks.

·         Ability to objectively assess problems

·         Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

·         Strong problem resolution skills, along with customer service and team orientation skills.

·         Proven leadership ability and excellent interpersonal skills.

·         Ability to work well with others in a team environment.

·         Ability to read and write in English and to perform mathematical calculations.



Required Experience

·         Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in the EHS field.
