Job Description:

Position Summary:

The EHS Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and implementing environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and best practices. The EHS Coordinator will work closely with cross-functional teams to assist with maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, identify and mitigate potential hazards, and promote a culture of safety and sustainability throughout the plant.

 

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

 

1. Facilitate all site EH&S functions, annual plant safety fair, JSA’s, risk assessments, EH&S reporting requirements, hearing tests, safety meetings, safety awareness activities, etc.

2. Lead group SOW shop floor audits to ensure safe practices are being followed and to identify risks and hazards that need corrective or preventative action with the goal being to reduce the potential for future incidents.

3. Performs random observational based safety audits (WOW) and involves other shop floor employees in the process to enhance the site’s overall observational audit program.

4. Performs random line risk assessments (LRA) and involves other shop floor employees in the process to enhance the site’s overall risk assessment program.

5. Track and report out progress on all EH&S related corrective and preventative actions.

6. Accept personal responsibility for plant safety and for the plant’s overall site safety program.

7. Leader and facilitator for the site’s overall JSA and LOTO programs. Accountable for working with plant department managers to assist and ensure that all plant functional areas have robust annually reviewed JSA’s and LOTO procedures and that all employees are trained annually.

8. Assist management in incident investigations and help facilitate medical attention both internally and at externally, at med centers, hospitals, etc.

9. Develop and provide reports, graphs, pareto, and other forms of analytical data review using office software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint to assist the plant in determining areas or items that need action taken to reduce the likelihood of future incidents.

10. Utilize and oversee the site’s corporate safety reporting databases and software such as Intelex.

11. Lead the site’s overall Intelex based EH&S inspections and audit program.

12. Maintain records of safety activity, both electronic as well as hard copy where required.

13. Site facilitator for the plant’s Near Miss Program. Work to involve shop floor employees in the program to drive proactive safety within the plant.

14. Performs his/her work in a safe manner, observing all safety rules to assure adequate protection to him or her and others.

15. Follow all company confidentiality guidelines concerning EH&S.

16. Report to the proper site personnel when factors affecting safety are evident and act promptly to resolve safety concerns.

17. Abides by the plant’s break policies as prescribed by department SOP’s or protocols.

18. Works with plant production training group to enhance the plant’s overall training program.

19. Act as the Plant Safety Committee Captain

20. Other duties as assigned.

 

Candidate Requirements:

1. High School Diploma or equivalent

2. Two years’ experience in EHS coordination or a similar role in a manufacturing environment.

3. Strong knowledge of EHS regulations, standards, and best practices.

4. Excellent understanding of risk assessment methodologies and incident investigation techniques.

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate solutions.

7. Familiarity with EHS management systems and software.

8. Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

9. Understanding of sustainability principles and practices is preferred.

10. Knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
