The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Coordinator supports safety and compliance initiatives across multiple construction projects. This role helps build and maintain a strong safety culture by conducting site inspections, facilitating training activities, ensuring OSHA and Cal/OSHA compliance, investigating incidents, and assisting with environmental and regulatory requirements. The EHS Coordinator plays a key role in documenting safety performance, supporting project teams, and promoting safe work practices on all job sites.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine jobsite safety inspections and audits across multiple construction projects.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, Cal/OSHA, and internal safety standards and procedures.
  • Monitor subcontractor safety performance and verify adherence to safety requirements.
  • Assist in developing and implementing project-specific safety plans and procedures.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and hazardous material documentation in an organized and accessible manner.
  • Track and report safety metrics, observations, and corrective actions to support continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and compliance documentation for all projects.
  • Track employee training records and certifications to ensure requirements remain current.
  • Prepare clear and timely safety reports for management and project teams.
  • Assist with regulatory inspections and audits by providing documentation and supporting onsite activities.
  • Participate in safety meetings and contribute to discussions on risk mitigation and best practices.
  • Support data entry and reporting related to inspections, incidents, and safety performance.
  • Collaborate with construction teams to identify hazards and communicate corrective actions effectively.

Essential Skills

  • At least 2 years of experience in a construction, industrial, environmental, or safety-related role.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and Cal/OSHA regulations and their application on construction sites.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey safety expectations and corrective actions.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage documentation, records, and reporting requirements.
  • Ability to conduct field inspections on active construction sites and follow up on corrective actions.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to interpret safety standards and apply them to practical field conditions.
  • Attention to detail when tracking safety metrics, training records, and compliance documentation.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience supporting safety programs in construction environments.
  • Background in industrial, environmental, or occupational safety is beneficial.
  • Ability to participate in and support safety meetings and training sessions.
  • Comfort working with data entry and generating reports for project stakeholders.
  • Capacity to collaborate with project teams and subcontractors to promote a strong safety culture.

Work Environment

This role operates primarily within active construction environments, requiring regular field presence for jobsite inspections and audits. The EHS Coordinator works closely with project teams, subcontractors, and management, attending meetings and supporting safety-related discussions. The position involves frequent use of standard office technologies, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, to maintain records, track training, and prepare reports. The work environment combines on-site fieldwork with office-based documentation and reporting, and may involve navigating uneven terrain, exposure to typical construction site conditions, and adherence to standard safety attire and personal protective equipment requirements.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newbury Park, CA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
