The Environmental Health & Safety Facilities Manager reports to the Senior Director of Facilities and is expected to be fully engaged in and deeply committed to the mission of St. John's Community Health, ensuring that facilities operations, safety systems, and site readiness consistently support uninterrupted patient access to primary care services. This role requires a proactive, solutions-oriented approach to eliminating operational barriers, preventing delays, and minimizing disruptions that could impact patient care delivery. Through strong leadership, planning, and coordination, the manager is coached to prioritize responsiveness, maintain safe and fully operational environments, and align all facilities, safety, and emergency preparedness functions with the organizational commitment to providing timely, equitable, and continuous access to care for all patients.Performance in this role is continuously measured against established Facilities Dashboard metrics, with a strong emphasis on data-driven accountability and ongoing improvement. The Environmental Health & Safety Facilities Manager is expected to proactively monitor and meet time-based targets for work order completion and service delivery across all areas of responsibility, including facilities operations, environmental health and safety, regulatory compliance and readiness, emergency preparedness, life safety, and incident management. Success in this role requires disciplined tracking of performance outcomes, effective coordination of internal staff and external vendors, and adherence to budget, planning, and asset management expectations. The manager is coached to use dashboard insights to identify trends, address gaps, and drive timely, compliant, and high-quality execution of all facilities-related functions.The EHS Facilities Manager supervises assigned staff. This role provides comprehensive weekly and/or monthly status update information on tasks and projects which are implemented to meet agreed upon deadlines subject to Senior Facilities Director goal setting including but not limited to annual Management by Objective Plan goals.Benefits Free Medical, Dental & Vision13 Paid Holidays + PTO403 (B) retirement matchLife Insurance, EAPTuition ReimbursementFlexible Spending AccountContinued workforce development & trainingSuccession plans & growth withinEducation Bachelor's degree in environmental health and safety, Occupational Safety, Engineering or related field preferred.Equivalent direct experience may be considered in lieu of degree.Experience Minimum of five years' experience as a facilities manager or in facilities management; including supervising maintenance security and janitorial staff.Bilingual in Spanish preferred.Experience working hands‑on with architects, engineers, contractors, extensive design and planning experience, extensive construction management experience, and a working knowledge of housekeeping, electrical, plumbing, heating, and ventilating air conditioning, and misc. building functions.Fleet Management experience with drivers, vehicle maintenance and scheduling.Warehouse logistic experience and asset management.Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, strong attention to details, highly organized, computer literate.Must be computer proficient and advanced in Visio, Word, Excel and Outlook.Experience with Computer Aided Facilities Management Software a plus.Must be able to work occasional nights and weekends as needed and available 24/7 for emergencies.Excellent written and oral communications skills to effectively and confidently communicate with vendors, contractors, management and employees.Ability to read, write, speak and understand English well.Understanding blueprints and project managing.Occasional travel may be required for training and/or to assist on projects at other locations.Essential Duties And Responsibilities Facilities Management & OperationsOversee daily facilities operations across all sites.Assess systems and maintenance practices; identify gaps and improvements.Manage preventive maintenance programs (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire/life safety)Standardize work orders, vendor coordination, and tracking processes.Coordinate contractors to ensure quality, safety, and cost control.Support space planning, renovations, and facility expansion.Ensure safe, reliable, and efficient facility operations.Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) ProgramsDevelop and maintain EHS programs (safety, hazardous materials, medical waste, injury prevention)Create and update policies, procedures, and SOPs.Conduct inspections and safety walk-throughs; resolve hazards promptly.Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.Deliver EHS training programs.Compliance & Regulatory ReadinessEnsure compliance with all regulatory requirements (Cal/OSHA, CMS, HRSA, Fire)Maintain permits, records, and documentation.Prepare for inspections and audits.Identify gaps and implement corrective actions.Partner with Quality, Infection Control, and Compliance teams.Emergency Preparedness, Life Safety & Incident ManagementLead emergency preparedness and planning across all locations.Continuously assess, modify and improve EOPs, evacuation plans, and life safety protocols.Coordinate drills, training, and emergency response activities.Liaise with emergency responders and external agencies.Ensure readiness of critical safety systems.Manage incident reporting, investigations, and risk reduction efforts.Budgeting, Planning & Asset ManagementSupport budgeting and track facilities/EHS expenses.Implement cost-effective maintenance and planning strategies.Maintain asset tracking systems (equipment, fleet, inventory)Assist with procurement, contracts, and capital projects.Vendor, Staff Coordination & CollaborationOversee vendors, contracts, and service performance.Coordinate facility services (HVAC, janitorial, security, construction)Supervise staff/contractors and provide guidance.Partner with site leadership on operational needs.Support organization-wide safety and compliance initiatives.St. John's Community Health is an Equal Employment Opportunity Employer#J-18808-Ljbffr
