    Description

    Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred, but not required.

    What you will do

    • Perform and document routine inspections across production areas, yard operations, maintenance shops, and around mobile equipment; call out unsafe conditions/behaviors and compliance gaps to plant leadership.
    • Support environmental compliance tasks as assigned.
    • Assist with monitoring safe operation of forklifts, cranes, loaders, and yard trucks.
    • Support incident, near-miss, property damage, and injury investigations by collecting facts, interviewing, and compiling documentation that enables root cause analysis and prevention.
    • Maintain OSHA compliance artifacts, including Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and safety records.
    • Assist with onboarding and training (new-hire safety orientation and toolbox talks); reinforce safe practices and proper PPE usage on the production floor.
    • Maintain safety files, training records, inspection logs, and compliance documents.
    • Inspect fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, emergency equipment, and fall protection.
    • Participate in safety committee meetings and support site safety programs.

    Qualifications

    Education

    • High School Diploma or GED required.

    Experience

    • 1–2 years in safety preferred; not required.
    • Background in manufacturing, construction, or industrial settings preferred.

    Skills you bring

    • Working knowledge of workplace safety concepts.
    • Meticulous attention to detail and strong observational skills.
    • Effective communicator; comfortable engaging employees at every level.
    • Strong hazard recognition.
    • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and email.
    • Commitment to confidentiality.

    Physical expectations

    • Regular walking throughout the plant and yard.
    • Comfort working outdoors in varied weather.
    • Ability to climb ladders and access elevated work areas.
    • Lift up to 50 pounds on occasion.
    • Wear required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, high-visibility vest, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and gloves.

    Work environment

    Approximately 50% office and 50% plant/field exposure to noise, dirt, heat, cold, oil, fumes, and related conditions.
