Job Description:

Summary:

The EHS Manager will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the facility's environmental, safety, and employee training programs.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Administers facility environmental activities to ensure compliance with all environmental programs and plans applicable to the facility, including air quality, storm water, hazardous waste, Community Right to Know, SPCC Plans, etc. Also maintains effective relationships with environmental regulatory agencies.
  • Coordinates and monitors completion of all recurring and one-time environmental compliance tasks, including inspections, recordkeeping, agency reports, etc. Also leads efforts for review and update of all environmental plans and procedures.
  • Monitor and record hazardous waste generation at the facility. Maintain hazardous waste manifests. Track waste disposal costs at the facility on a monthly basis.
  • Includes interpretation of data and environment to ensure compliance.
  • Develops and implements all recurring environmental training programs applicable to the facility, including general environmental awareness, storm water, SPCC, hazardous waste and DOT.
  • Administers facility H&S activities to ensure compliance with all OSHA H&S programs applicable to the facility, including LOTO, PIT/Forklift, Electrical Safety, Scissors Lifts, Hearing Conservation, PPE, Machine Guarding, HAZCOM and Fall Protection.
  • Responsible for submitting all permits and maintaining all environmental files in manner consistent with Federal, State and Company guidelines.
  • Confer with department Leaders, manufacturing representatives and regulatory agency staff to discuss problems, to develop tests to detect environmental problems, to design plans to monitor equipment and to ensure compliance with permits issued by environmental regulatory agencies. Maintain working knowledge of new technologies developed by the industry and government regulators.
  • Performs safety related administrative tasks, to include program recordkeeping, equipment procurement, Workers' Compensation case management, and responding to inquiries.
  • Submit annual reports to State regulatory agencies.
  • Serves as the sites Industrial Hygiene Coordinator, which consists of implementation and maintenance of Industrial Hygiene Programs (e.g. Hazardous Communication, Hearing Conservation, etc.).
  • Prepare and maintain the following Industrial Hygiene Programs (Hazardous Communication, Chemical Exposure Assessment, Hearing Conservation, Safe Quality Foods), including maintenance of Material Safety Data Sheets, Chemical inventory list, audiometric. Develops, evaluates and maintains effective injury prevention programs, including Behavior Based Safety (BBS), Employee Engagement, Safe Cut Tools, Glove Usage, etc.
  • Leads the Food Safety Audit effort to Maintain our British Retail Consortium “BRC” rating
  • Manage and audit training for new hire employees over the 30, 60 and 90-day process.
  • Coach leads and hourly trainers on best training practices for training other hourly employees on the floor.
  • Conduct specified training as needed for temporary and Pactiv employees to improve communication and employee interaction for better standard work processes

 

Requirements:

  • BS degree in safety, industrial hygiene, or environmental related discipline and 3-5 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated computer literacy with knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of NPDES and Storm Water Pollution Programs, Hazardous Waste Management
  • Strong analytical and communication skills

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Certification preferred (CIH, CSP, and/or CHP)
