    Job Overview

    The Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for leading the sites Environmental, Health & Safety strategy and ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. This role partners with site leadership to develop and execute initiatives that protect employees, minimize environmental impact, strengthen regulatory compliance, and foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement. The EHS Manager serves as the sites subject matter expert for safety and environmental programs, providing leadership, coaching, and strategic direction while supporting operational excellence and business objectives.

    Responsibilities:

    • Develop, implement, and continuously improve site Environmental, Health & Safety programs, policies, and procedures.
    • Provide strategic leadership for all EHS initiatives and partner with site leadership to embed safety into daily operations.
    • Lead the sites SEAL program, maintain compliance documentation, and participate in a minimum of two SEAL audits annually at other Newell facilities.
    • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
    • Lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action implementation to prevent recurrence.
    • Analyze safety and environmental metrics, identify trends, and develop action plans to improve performance.
    • Develop and deliver training programs for associates, supervisors, and managers on EHS topics.
    • Serve as the primary site contact for regulatory inspections, corporate audits, and external agencies.
    • Manage emergency response planning, business continuity planning, and site emergency drills.
    • Lead environmental compliance programs including hazardous waste, stormwater, recycling, spill prevention, air emissions, and sustainability initiatives.
    • Ensure accurate regulatory reporting and maintenance of all required environmental permits and records.
    • Partner with Corporate EHS to implement company initiatives, drive standardization, and support enterprise-wide programs.
    • Coach and develop leaders to strengthen accountability for safety performance throughout the organization.
    • Lead risk assessments, ergonomic evaluations, and continuous improvement projects to reduce workplace hazards.
    • Support capital projects, equipment installations, and facility changes by ensuring EHS requirements are incorporated into project planning.
    • Drive employee engagement through safety committees, recognition programs, and proactive hazard identification.
    • Manage EHS budgets, contractor safety programs, and third-party service providers as applicable.
    • Maintain all required safety and environmental documentation and reporting.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or related field preferred (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
    • 5+ years of progressive Environmental, Health & Safety experience in manufacturing, distribution, or logistics.
    • Previous experience leading EHS programs and influencing cross-functional teams.
    • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and state environmental regulations.
    • Experience leading audits, regulatory inspections, and compliance initiatives.
    • Demonstrated success driving safety culture improvements and continuous improvement initiatives.
    • Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and influencing skills.
    • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office and EHS management systems.
    • Professional certifications (CSP, ASP, CHMM, OHST, or similar) preferred.
    • Ability to travel up to 25%.
