Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager
Department: Quality

Location: South Hackensack, NJ
General Purpose
The EHS Manager is essential for maintaining and enhancing safety, health, and environmental standards within the organization. This role involves learning and applying existing company policies and programs, identifying gaps, and proactively resolving issues by developing, implementing, and overseeing new and existing policies and programs that ensure a safe workplace and regulatory compliance. The EHS Manager collaborates with various departments to mitigate risks, ensure employees are properly trained, and implement effective corrective measures, while promoting a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. The objective is to ensure that all company locations comply with internal EHS policies and programs aligned to local, state, federal, and global regulations affecting associates, buildings, products, and the surrounding environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Program Development: design and implement EHS policies, procedures, and training programs; monitor and assess relevant policies from governing bodies (federal, state, municipal, global) and individual sites that impact operations; analyze compliance requirements and integrate them into company procedures; monitor operations for adherence to established policies.
Auditing and Inspection: conduct regular safety audits and workplace inspections to identify and correct hazards; maintain thorough records of compliance reviews for audit purposes.
Reporting: manage regulatory reporting and permit applications/renewals; conduct EHS pre-qualification assessments and audits for contractors and suppliers; review and complete EHS customer forms and surveys; manage sustainability programs across all applicable locations; oversee PFAS reporting; manage OSHA/EMR tracking and reporting, including trend analysis and corrective actions.
Incident Management: investigate accidents, injuries, and illnesses and implement corrective actions; lead and oversee the company-wide Safety Committee program; coach supervisors and managers on EHS initiatives and regulatory practices.
Training: ensure essential safety, health, and environmental training is delivered effectively to employees and supervisors; ensure accident prevention and investigation training is provided; ensure all safety-related training is recorded in the LMS.
Risk Management: identify, assess, and mitigate workplace risks and environmental hazards; conduct investigations and root cause analysis on safety incidents; establish a program for data collection, analysis, and reporting on carbon emissions.
Supervisory Responsibilities: N/A
Education/Experience Required
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in EHS compliance, safety program management, or sustainability initiatives for a multi-national corporation. Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, third-party compliance portals, and industry-specific safety regulations. Experience with HSE audits, training programs, and risk assessments. Certifications in Associate Safety Professional (ASP) from BCSP and OSHA General Industry. In-person training delivery experience a plus. Experience leading, implementing, and standardizing EHS programs across multiple operating locations. Proven ability to assess corporate EHS requirements, perform gap analyses, and provide strategic recommendations supporting compliance and risk mitigation.
Required Skills/Abilities: Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and Teams; strong verbal and written communication skills; manufacturing environment experience a plus; eLearning platform development experience a plus.
Physical Demands: Occasional lifting/moving up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment: Mix of office, classroom, Shipping/Receiving, Manufacturing, Testing, and Calibration areas. Up to 10% travel.



Minimum 10 years of EHS compliance/safety program management experience within a multi-site or multi-national organization.
Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or a closely related field.
Active ASP (BCSP) certification and/or OSHA General Industry certification.
Demonstrated experience leading or standardizing EHS programs across multiple operating locations.
