Job Title: Manager, Environmental Health and SafetyLocation: Council Bluffs, IAReports to: Plant ManagerSUMMARY OF POSITION PURPOSE AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Manager, EHS shall take a lead role in coordinating the company's environmental, health and safety programming. He/she shall develop and coordinate the organization's effort to achieve World-Class environmental and safety standards.To accomplish this task, he/she will work closely with Leadership, Operations Management, the Safety Committee, and employees, developing EHS Programs designed to eliminate workplace risks, prevent negative environmental and community impacts, and retrofit technology-based safety into operational processes. He/she shall have basic knowledge and understanding of Behavior Based Safety.KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREASThe Manager, EHS, shall be responsible for completing and submitting, on a timely basis, federal, state, and local environmental and occupational safety reports.He/she shall maintain compliance with federally enforceable Title V Operating Permit requirements.He/she shall ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.He/she shall conduct safety and environmental training using a variety of training media to build employees' knowledge and understanding of the topic.He/she shall develop and administer company emergency response programming that includes the Integrated Contingency, Storm Water Pollution Prevention, and Spill Prevention, Countermeasure, and Contingency Plans.He/she shall coordinate all efforts to reduce OSHA safety incidents, SQF Practitioner/Food Defense Coordinator backup.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSThe Manager, EHS, shall have completed an accredited trainer-training course and possess strong presentation and speaking skills for educating personnel and communicating the company's safety and environmental policies and programs.He/she shall be capable of demonstrating a strong working knowledge of the following topics: Hazard Communication, Hazardous Energy Control (Lockout/Tagout), Confined Space Entry, Industrial Lift Trucks, Emergency Response, personal protective equipment, machine guarding, ergonomics, and Hot Work.He/she shall be versed in federal, state, and local environmental laws including the Clean Air Act, Clean Streams Law, RCRA, and Department of Transportation.Skills/KnowledgeHazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response CertificationStrong knowledge of OSHA, RCRA, NFPA and DOT regulationsEHS training/presentation experience5-8 years of experience in industrial/manufacturing EHSIndustrial Lift Truck (Train-the-Trainer) CertificationIndustrial/manufacturing auditing experienceStrong computer and problem-solving skillsLeadership/administrative skillsBackground in Lean ManufacturingExperience/EducationBachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering/Science or related science fieldProfessional accreditation, such as CHMM, CIH, CSP, CFSP#J-18808-Ljbffr
