EHS Manager

Location: Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Work arrangement: Onsite

Travel: Approximately 5%

Fusion Recruiters is excited to partner with a global manufacturer that is seeking a hands-on EHS Manager to lead environmental, health, and safety programs within a large, three-shift Milwaukee manufacturing operation.

This is not a turnaround assignment. The organization has an established safety program, engaged plant leadership, and incident performance below its industry average. The next EHS Manager will build on that foundation by strengthening preventive safety practices, developing the EHS team, and driving continuous improvement throughout the operation.

The position offers significant visibility with plant and operational leadership, support from an experienced EHS leader, and the potential to grow into broader multi-site responsibility over time.

What You’ll Do

• Lead day-to-day environmental, health, and safety activities across a complex manufacturing operation.
• Provide leadership and direction to EHS technicians and specialists.
• Maintain a visible presence on the production floor and build strong relationships with leaders, supervisors, and employees.
• Oversee OSHA compliance and programs involving machine guarding, lockout/tagout, industrial hygiene, chemical safety, combustible dust, elevated work, and heavy equipment.
• Lead incident and near-miss investigations, identify root causes, and implement sustainable corrective and preventive actions.
• Conduct facility inspections, risk assessments, job safety analyses, and compliance audits.
• Track leading and lagging EHS indicators, identify trends, and translate findings into practical improvements.
• Support ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 management systems, including procedures, operational controls, audits, and corrective actions.
• Assist with environmental programs involving waste management, spill prevention, stormwater, chemical management, and release response.
• Coordinate emergency preparedness, employee training, and contractor safety programs.
• Partner with operations to introduce improvements without compromising safety, production, or employee engagement.
• Contribute to future energy-management and operational-integrity initiatives.
• Provide occasional support to other facilities as the role develops.

What You’ll Bring

• Five or more years of progressive EHS experience within manufacturing or a comparably complex industrial environment.
• Direct responsibility for plant-level OSHA compliance and safety programs.
• Demonstrated experience leading incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Working knowledge of multiple manufacturing risks, such as machine guarding, LOTO, industrial hygiene, chemical safety, combustible dust, elevated work, or mobile equipment.
• Experience working within ISO 14001, ISO 45001, OHSAS 18001, or another structured EHS management system.
• Experience leading employees, coordinating EHS resources, or influencing cross-functional teams.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish credibility with plant leaders, supervisors, technical professionals, and hourly employees.
• A bachelor’s degree in environmental health and safety, occupational safety, engineering, environmental science, or a related discipline—or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Ability to work onsite in Milwaukee and travel occasionally.

Particularly Relevant Experience

Additional consideration may be given to candidates with experience in:

• Plastics, extrusion, injection molding, electrical components, automotive supply, industrial products, packaging, or other discrete manufacturing.
• Emergency-response planning and drills.
• Environmental compliance, SPCC, SWPPP, chemical management, or waste programs.
• Developing EHS technicians, specialists, or emerging professionals.
• ISO certification or surveillance audits.
• Sustainability or energy-management initiatives.
• Multi-site or regional EHS support.

ISO 50001 experience, professional certifications, and prior regional responsibility are helpful but are not required.

This role is well suited for either an experienced plant EHS Manager or a high-performing Senior EHS Specialist, EHS Engineer, or EHS Lead who is ready to assume broader leadership responsibility.
