Job Title: EHS Manager
Job Description
The EHS Manager leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of environmental, health, safety, and security programs within a highly automated manufacturing facility. This role partners closely with plant leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, promote a strong safety culture, and support operational excellence. The EHS Manager will oversee site-wide safety initiatives, environmental programs, and security systems while mentoring teams and driving proactive risk reduction strategies.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental, health, safety, and security policies and procedures across the facility
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory requirements, including documentation, reporting, and training records
- Assess training needs and develop, deliver, and track safety and environmental training programs for all team members
- Lead workers' compensation processes, including incident response, medical coordination, and return-to-work programs
- Oversee plant security systems to protect employees, assets, and operations
- Manage fleet vehicle programs, ensuring safety compliance and proper documentation
- Serve as Environmental Management Representative (EMR) for ISO programs, maintaining certification and compliance
- Monitor site safety performance through audits, inspections, and data tracking; drive corrective and preventive actions
- Support environmental programs related to wastewater, paint systems, and manufacturing processes to ensure compliance and minimize impact
- Partner with leadership to develop strategic EHS initiatives and manage annual budgets related to safety and environmental programs
- Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership, engagement, and communication across all levels of the organization
- Provide technical support on the production floor, assisting with troubleshooting and root cause analysis of safety or environmental issues
Essential Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an EHS leadership role within a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and experience ensuring site compliance
- Experience managing environmental programs, including wastewater and regulatory reporting
- Experience working with ISO standards and maintaining certifications (EMR or similar role)
- Proven ability to develop and deliver safety training programs
- Experience managing workers' compensation and return-to-work programs
- Strong experience developing and implementing EHS policies and procedures
- Excellent leadership, communication, and team engagement skills
- Ability to influence and partner with cross-functional teams and leadership
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in automotive manufacturing environments (stamping, fabrication, or paint operations)
- Familiarity with paint systems, automated paint processes, or robotics
- Experience working with wastewater systems in manufacturing environments
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD for reviewing layouts or safety-related drawings
- Experience conducting or overseeing inspections related to safety, environmental, or quality standards
- Experience in highly automated facilities with robotics and advanced manufacturing technologies
- Demonstrated ability to contribute as part of a broader leadership team
Work Environment
This role is based in a large, highly automated automotive manufacturing facility that includes stamping, fabrication, and paint operations. The environment utilizes advanced robotics and automated systems to produce body components and assemblies. The EHS Manager will split time between office-based planning and reporting and active presence on the production floor, conducting audits, supporting operations, and engaging with team members. The role requires a strong focus on safety, compliance, and collaboration within a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
