A leading manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to support a new manufacturing location. This onsite role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations, with a strong focus on building and sustaining a proactive safety culture. The EHS Manager will partner closely with operations, engineering, facilities, and leadership to implement effective EHS programs and drive continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
Ensure full compliance with applicable EHS regulations at the state and federal levels
Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact to site operations
Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and site specific programs
Establish and track EHS metrics; analyze trends and present insights to management to support continuous improvement
Develop and deliver EHS training programs aligned with regulatory and corporate requirements
Lead and oversee incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action completion
Conduct EHS audits, inspections, and risk assessments; participate in external compliance and loss prevention audits
Coordinate and track corrective actions resulting from audits, assessments, and inspections
Partner with facilities and property management to ensure appropriate fire and life safety controls are in place and maintained
Oversee required environmental permitting (air, water, and land) and associated reporting
Serve as the primary site contact for government and regulatory inquiries related to EHS
Act as a technical EHS resource for leadership and employees; lead the site safety committee
Support and participate in Continuous Improvement / 6S initiatives
Provide recommendations to enhance EHS practices, performance, and compliance
Required Qualifications
Bachelor s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
5+ years of experience in EHS roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment
Strong working knowledge of U.S. and North Carolina EHS regulations
Proven experience implementing and managing EHS programs in an operational setting
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to train and influence others
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Self motivated professional with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting new facility start ups
Prior experience leading safety committees
Exposure to ISO based EHS management systems
Experience with continuous improvement or Lean/6S initiatives
