Overview

A leading manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to support a new manufacturing location. This onsite role is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local EHS regulations, with a strong focus on building and sustaining a proactive safety culture. The EHS Manager will partner closely with operations, engineering, facilities, and leadership to implement effective EHS programs and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure full compliance with applicable EHS regulations at the state and federal levels
  • Monitor regulatory changes and assess impact to site operations
  • Develop, implement, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, and site specific programs
  • Establish and track EHS metrics; analyze trends and present insights to management to support continuous improvement
  • Develop and deliver EHS training programs aligned with regulatory and corporate requirements
  • Lead and oversee incident and accident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action completion
  • Conduct EHS audits, inspections, and risk assessments; participate in external compliance and loss prevention audits
  • Coordinate and track corrective actions resulting from audits, assessments, and inspections
  • Partner with facilities and property management to ensure appropriate fire and life safety controls are in place and maintained
  • Oversee required environmental permitting (air, water, and land) and associated reporting
  • Serve as the primary site contact for government and regulatory inquiries related to EHS
  • Act as a technical EHS resource for leadership and employees; lead the site safety committee
  • Support and participate in Continuous Improvement / 6S initiatives
  • Provide recommendations to enhance EHS practices, performance, and compliance

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in EHS roles within a manufacturing or industrial environment
  • Strong working knowledge of U.S. and North Carolina EHS regulations
  • Proven experience implementing and managing EHS programs in an operational setting
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to train and influence others
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self motivated professional with the ability to work independently and collaboratively

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting new facility start ups
  • Prior experience leading safety committees
  • Exposure to ISO based EHS management systems
  • Experience with continuous improvement or Lean/6S initiatives
