Job Summary:

The EHS Senior Specialist serves as an experienced individual contributor responsible for leading complex Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability (EHS&S) initiatives that support divisional compliance, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. This role partners with leaders and employees to drive a strong safety culture, ensure regulatory compliance, support environmental stewardship and sustainability objectives, analyze performance data and trends, and implement proactive risk mitigation strategies that enhance facility performance.

What you will do:

  • Identifies common safety/health/environmental hazards inherent in the organization's operations and establishes guidelines for protection from those hazards.
  • Provide support and EHS expertise to approximately 12 global facilities across the division, aligning on compliance, company and divisional standards.
  • Embrace Human and Organizational Principles (HOP) mindset and aligns culture, processes and systems to prevent serious injuries in the organization by delivering training, identifying high energy risk, and providing mitigation and prevention strategies.
  • Audits safety/health/environmental programs for compliance with company standards, government regulations, and adequacy relative to local conditions.
  • Monitors periodic performance reports for trends and conditions, alerts management to opportunities and makes recommendations for improvement.

Skills you will have:

  • Sustainability: Basic knowledge of sustainability strategy; ability to integrate sustainability into the overall business strategy of the organization to build a sustainable business model.
  • Risk Management: Working knowledge of processes, tools and techniques for assessing and controlling an organization's exposure to risks of various kinds; ability to apply knowledge of risk management appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Collaborating: Working knowledge of collaborative techniques; ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Extensive knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Overcoming Resistance to Change: Extensive understanding and insight into the futility of refusing to accept the inevitable and ability to overcome resistance and adapt to a complex and changing environment.
  • Problem Solving: Working knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Extensive knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies; ability to implement EHS policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards.

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Experience conducting compliance audits, risk assessments, and regulatory evaluations.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Power BI dashboards.
  • Working in Microsoft Power Apps
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze large and complex data sets, identify trends, and develop actionable improvement plans.

Additional Information:

  • This position can be located in Mossville, IL., Griffin, GA., or Lafayette, IN.
  • Up to 25% travel may be required.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
