Job Title: EHS Generalist
Location: Champaign, IL 61822 - 100% onsite
Duration: 12 months contract

Note: Position requires worker start ASAP.


Purpose of the job:
The role provides Environmental, Health, and Safety support for multiple assigned locations, including farm, laboratory, manufacturing, seed production, and remote operations.
The position is responsible for helping ensure that Environmental, Health, and Safety programs are implemented and maintained in compliance with applicable local, state/provincial, federal, and internal corporate requirements.
The role supports consistency in EHS program execution across assigned locations and drives continuous improvement in EHS performance, regulatory compliance, risk reduction, and audit readiness.
The Regional EHS Generalist partners with site leadership, employees, and regional EHS stakeholders tsupport operational accountability for EHS, strengthen incident prevention efforts, and ensure effective implementation of the North America EHS management system.
The role reports tthe Regional EHS Manager and must be able tsupport leaders and employees across multiple locations through strong collaboration, technical expertise, and influence without direct authority.

Knowledge and experience:
Exp: 5-6 years
Bachelor of Science degree in engineering, environmental science, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, or a related technical field is preferred
Strong EHS regulatory and technical expertise required, including OSHA, EPA, and applicable state/provincial and local requirements
Minimum 5 years of experience supporting EHS programs
Experience implementing and periodically reviewing EHS programs
Experience aligning site-based programs with corporate requirements
Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis
Experience providing EHS training in person and online
Experience developing and reviewing SOPs, policies, and other compliance documentation
Experience with environmental and safety inspections, audits, and corrective action follow-up
Previous experience with multi-site compliance management
Ability tidentify, assess, and prioritize EHS risks across multiple locations
Self-starter with the ability twork independently and effectively with diverse teams and locations
Ability tinteract with various levels of management and staff
Experience and ability tinfluence leaders and employees without direct authority
Ability tprioritize work and projects involving multiple sites
Ability tinteract with community representatives, elected officials, and nongovernmental organizations, as needed
Ability tinteract with local, state/provincial, and federal regulatory agencies
Experience participating in capital project EHS reviews
Travel required tprovide onsite support approximately 50% of the time
Travel outside region may be required, up t25% (of the total 50%)

Additional experience in the following is a plus
Experience working on and around farms, chemical manufacturing, seed production, and laboratory environments
Working knowledge of process safety and environmental compliance programs
Biological safety experience, BSL1/2
Experience with Responsible Care requirements
Experience with industrial hygiene sampling and reporting
Experience completing annual environmental reports
Professional certification such as:
Certified Safety Professional (CSP)
Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)
Professional Engineer (PE)
