    Job Description

    Job Summary 

    An EHS Technician Trainee must have a basic understanding of how to perform environmental assessments, clearance testing, and monitoring activities in accordance to all applicable regulations. EHS Technician Trainees are on track to becoming EHS Technicians (I, II, III). EHS Technician Trainees work closely with EHS Technicians, Health & Safety Specialists, Environmental Scientists, and all EHS Project Managers (PM) to learn how to properly conduct various EHS assessments, safely collect samples, and complete all required documentation. EHS Technician Trainees will embody the Company’s core values (integrity, accountability, leadership, innovation, responsiveness). 

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

    The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: 

    Shadow EHS field personnel (i.e., EHS Technicians, Health & Safety Specialists, Environmental Scientists) to properly learn how to perform any EHS project. 

    Research and interpret applicable regulatory requirements for each project. 

    For each project, input field data into web-based program (Enviroshare) in a timely and efficient manner. 

    Regularly document all project tasks occurring on the project, including any deficiencies. 

    Be able to properly communicate, oversee and direct contractors (i.e., remediation crew members, etc.) for all monitoring and clearance projects. 

    Maintain professional correspondence with clients, vendors, and all A-Tech staff.  

    Interpret laboratory data and compare with applicable environmental regulatory standards.  

    Self-study and shadow experienced staff to learn numerous EHS practices. 

    Adhere to published environmental sampling methodologies. 

    Perform other related duties, as needed. 


    Preferred Certifications 

    HAZWOPER40 Certification 

    CDPH Lead Sampling Technician certification 

    In the process of obtaining an occupational health & safety-related certification(s). 

    Must be able to pass a medical evaluation, including a pulmonary function test, and have the ability to wear a negative pressure respirator.  

     
    Other Requirements 

    Must have an average of 0-1 years training/experience in the industry. 

    When respirator use is required, must be prepared to shave to appropriately retain a respirator seal.  

    Must maintain all certifications.  

    Must be able to apply math skills and use mathematical equations.  

    Be available and responsive to incoming projects and technician request(s).   

    As needed, ability to work overtime, nights, and weekends. 

    As needed, ability to travel, which may include out of state travel, to perform work. 

    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, or Occupational Health & Safety field.  


    Physical Requirements 

    Must be able to traverse various types of buildings and roofs/crawl spaces/attics to collect samples.  

    Must be able to lift and handle field equipment: 10-15 pounds frequently, 20-40 pounds moderately, and 40+ pounds on occasion. 

    Must be adaptable to working in a sedentary position for the majority of your working day, or standing/walking on project sites.  

    Ability to travel and spend long periods of time in a vehicle.  

    While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to communicate (e.g., talk, hear). The employee frequently is required to use hands to handle/feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to read/see (with or without visual correction) close-up, at a distance, and peripherally. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Must be able to wear hearing protection, as needed.
