The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.
Job Overview:
The EKG Technician performs non-invasive cardiac testing inclusive of ECG, Holter monitoring and assistance with stress testing; provides physicians with data for use in diagnosing cardiac abnormalities; participates in unit quality improvement. Uses an understanding of principles of growth and development to determine each patient's age specific needs and provides age specific treatment.
Qualifications:
Required:
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Six month probationary training period under the guidance of a qualified preceptor
- BLS Certification through American Hearth Association
- Successful completion of all Orientation Programs
Preferred:
- Experience in an acute care setting
Scheduling Requirements
- PT
- Day Shift
- Opportunity for on-call shifts
- Winter and summer holidays required
- Weekends required
Essential Functions:
- Assists physicians with on-site and remote editing of EKGs as needed
- Charging: demonstrates competency by accurately charging patient for procedures performed
- Communicates Reading Panel schedule to offices; notifies physicians of as needed
- Communication: demonstrates competency by transmitting pertinent patient information to appropriate individual (i.e., MD, supervisor, nurse, discharge planner, etc.)
- Complies with unit and departmental scheduling guidelines
- Critical Tests and Results: demonstrates competency by communicating results to RN and Physician
