    Qualifications:

    • Valid secondary State of MI teacher certificate with an ESL (NS) endorsement or bilingual Spanish (YF) endorsement.
    • Additional Elementary (ZG) endorsement required.

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct English Language Development (ELD) instruction to ELs in grades YK-5 in both designated ELD settings (pull-out, separate ESL classes) and integrated ELD settings (push-in, co-taught support).
    • Collaborate with elementary content area teachers to support English Learners (ELs) within core classes.
    • Utilize the WIDA ELD Standards Framework, 2020 to incorporate English Language Development standards.
    • Contribute to grade level data review meetings and Professional Learning Communities.
    • Support meaningful student and family engagement opportunities for multilingual learners.
    • Build upon the cultural and linguistic assets of ELs to support equitable educational opportunities.
    • Implement effective instructional routines based on current research, The SIOP Model, and the WIDA Standards Framework.
    • Collect, analyze, and communicate relevant data for ELs & Former ELs (FELs).
    • Leverage instructional technology to support making content comprehensible and developing academic language for ELs.
    • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to support newcomer ELs and their families.
    • Administer EL assessments (including WIDA Screener & WIDA Access) and communicate results & implications.
    • Contribute to the growth and development of the EL Program.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

    • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
    • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. This factor is important if it occurs to a considerable degree and requires the substantial use of the upper extremities and back muscles.
    • Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm.
    • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken work; those activities where detailed or import spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
    • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound.
    • Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
    • The worker is subject to environmental conditions.
    • The worker should provide consistent and reliable in-person attendance.
