ELAR INSTRUCTIONAL COACH
Job Title: ELAR Curriculum Specialist Wage/Hour Status: Exempt
Reports to: Exec. Dir. of Curr/Instr.
Primary Purpose:
- To provide the leadership and expertise needed to make instruction effective and positive for each student.
- To assist the teacher in identifying and applying various research-based instructional strategies in the classroom
- To provide assistance to teachers with the implementation, alignment development and refinement and assessment of curriculum and instruction
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Master's Degree Preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of exemplary curriculum practices and principles
Knowledge of exemplary instructional techniques, materials, resources, etc.
Skill in making oral and written presentations
Skill in implementing long-range and immediate plans
Skill in modeling exemplary instructional techniques
Skill in identifying and developing curriculum and materials
Skill in collaborating effectively with adult learners
Experience:
Minimum of three years of classroom teaching experience
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
- Work with teachers through grade levels in horizontal and vertical meetings
- Provide reading support for teachers in grades 2ND- 4TH
- Promote the content relevance and effectiveness in terms of the TEKS
- Ensure reading instruction is on target in grades 2ND \u2013 4TH
- Teach model lessons to staff
- Inform teachers of major curriculum trends and developments and lead study groups of current research
- Model instructional practices to improve teacher instruction
- Confer with campus administration on curriculum issues
- Collaborate with administrative staff to determine needs and priorities for professional development
- Work with the curriculum department to assist with district needs
- Serve as mentorship liaison to new teachers to the district
- Ensure that the elementary and intermediate libraries are student-centered and promote the district library philosophy
- Perform duties in a professional, ethical and responsible manner as defined by the TEA Code of Ethics for Educators
- Perform other tasks and assume such responsibilities as related to the position as assigned

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent prolonged and irregular
District-wide travel. May have a possible risk of exposure to BBP.
