Electric Standards Intern - CO (Grad Student)

Internship position to assist engineers in Electric Distribution Engineering. Projects include completing layout for underground distribution system guidance, assist with arc flash calculation program, and create material specification sheets.

Typical intern responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Electric Distribution Standards covers Overhead Distribution, Underground Distribution, Outdoor Lighting, Communication, Underground Network and EV charging standards.
• This position will be working to support engineering staff with various projects in relation to these areas.
• This position involves researching relevant industry standards, understanding electric distribution equipment, and how the equipment is used in the field.
• The intern will come away with in depth knowledge of the electric distribution system as part of their internship in this position.

This position is for an immediate opening. This position may have the possibility to extend beyond the internship's initial term based on the candidate's successful performance and Xcel Energy's business needs.

• Minimum Requirements:
• Current student, Graduate School
• Enrolled in an ABET accredited college or university and pursuing a degree in electrical, mechanical, civil, or chemical engineering
• Able to work full-time during the summer (up to 40 hours a week)/ part time during the school year (up to 20 hours a week) and commuting to the designated work location in-person, per our hybrid work policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous Xcel Energy internship experience

Non-Bargaining

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $30.90 per hour
