Purpose: An Electrical Assembler combines technical expertise with personal work habits to build, repair, and maintain electrical and electronic systems with precision and quality. Success in this role depends on a mix of hard skills (technical abilities) and soft skills (workplace behaviors).

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Electrical Assembly – Building complete electrical systems from schematics, blueprints, and wiring diagrams.
  • Circuit Board Assembly – Soldering and mounting components onto PCBs accurately.
  • Wiring & Cable Management – Connecting wires, harnesses, and panels according to specifications to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Soldering Techniques – Creating strong, reliable electrical connections.
  • Sub-Assembly Skills – Combining components into sub-assemblies for integration into larger systems.
  • Hand Tools & Equipment – Proficiency with tape measures, wire strippers, soldering irons, crimpers, and calibrated tools.
  • Math & Measurement – Using shop math for accurate sizing, spacing, and assembly.
  • Electrical Testing Equipment – Operating multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools.
  • Switches & Control Devices – Wiring and installing switches, relays, and other control components.
  • Mechanical Assembly – Integrating electrical parts with mechanical systems
  • Attention to Detail – Spotting small errors to prevent defects and ensure compliance with specs.
  • Problem-Solving – Identifying and resolving assembly or wiring issues quickly.
  • Communication Skills – Clearly conveying instructions, concerns, or findings to team members.
  • Teamwork – Coordinating with engineers, QA, and other assemblers for smooth production.
  • Manual Dexterity & Hand-Eye Coordination – Handling small components and tools precisely.
  • Safety Awareness – Following electrical codes and safety protocols to protect yourself and others.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in electrical assembly or lithium-ion battery assembly is preferred.
