Electrical & Automation Supervisor
$80-90K


Oversees the team of electricians and automation professionals, as well as maintenance processes and resources, to ensure continuous operation of machinery and equipment. Drives execution of maintenance plans, supports employee development, and improves service efficiency while maintaining strict adherence to safety standards.

Duties and tasks:
  • Supervise the work of the team of electricians and automation professionals by assigning tasks, managing absences, and monitoring task execution and team efficiency.
  • Organize and oversee workshop activities related to electrical and automation systems, including planning and execution of inspections, repairs, upgrades, and preventive actions.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to system availability, response time to failures, and repair effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and support employee training, assess competency levels, and ensure continuous development of the team.
  • Ensure high quality of service work, compliance with standards, and prompt implementation of corrective actions in case of non-conformities.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues in the area of automation and electrical systems, initiate and implement improvement actions and continuous improvement projects.
  • Leadership and management of direct reports, including: employee motivation, assessment of competencies and potential, fostering employee development, and setting both short and long term goals and deliverables. Ensuring ongoing and periodic monitoring and evaluation of performance. Conducting performance appraisal discussions, providing constructive feedback, and supporting employees' professional growth and career development.
  • Promote a high-performance culture and support the professional growth of team members through coaching and skills building, aligned with company's training curricula and strategies.
  • Collaborate with other departments on downtime planning, implementation of new technical solutions, and process optimization.
  • Coordinate shift handovers and personnel scheduling to ensure operational continuity and efficiency, including managing holidays, overtime, and collaboration with production and support teams.
  • Ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), maintain the area in accordance with 5S standards and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, in line with the scope of the position and employment agreement.

Required qualifications and experience:
  • Secondary technical education (vocational or technical high school), preferably in electrical, mechatronics, or automation fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, mechanical systems, or equipment servicing within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to assess employee skills, coordinate training, and support development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance processes, equipment reliability, and resource planning.
  • Expertise in safety procedures and regulatory compliance.
  • Solid technical understanding of production machinery and documentation.
  • Familiarity with industry standards for quality, safety, and compliance.
  • Familiarity with Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Work independence:
  • Intermittent / Minimal: The employee normally receives little instruction on day-to-day work and receives general instructions on new assignments. Moderate Work Independence. Limited Decision Making.

Communication and working relationships:
  • Regular communication with team members, other supervisors, and departments to ensure alignment and support continuous improvement.
  • The employee may be required to engage in additional forms of communication as directed by the Company in alignment with operational requirements and based on business needs.
  • May communicate with external service providers, auditors, or inspectors during visits, audits, or compliance checks.

Decisions impacted by this position:
  • Taking immediate action in case of accidents by halting operations and ensuring proper medical response.
  • Make decisions to stop machinery in case of equipment malfunction, safety hazards, or quality and compliance risks, and implement necessary adjustments or corrective actions to restore operational standards.
  • Make decisions on task allocation during equipment failures, adjustments to work schedules, verification of overtime, and initiation of disciplinary or training actions.
  • Take immediate decisions to protect machine integrity and ensure employee safety.
  • The employee may be required to make additional decisions as directed by the Company and/or in consideration of operational, quality and safety requirements.
