Job Title: Electrical CAD Technician (Contract-to-Hire)
Location: Charlotte, NC
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Electrical CAD Technician to join our team in a contract-to-hire capacity in Charlotte, NC. This role supports technical teams of detailers, designers, and engineers in delivering high-quality drafting and design solutions across a variety of projects. It's an excellent opportunity for someone looking to grow their CAD career in a collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in preparing and revising engineering drawings based on sketches, layouts, and design concepts
- Support the development and updating of plot drawings
- Follow company and client drafting standards and procedures
- Apply discipline-specific drafting practices to assigned work
- Contribute to drafting design and documentation for multiple projects
- Utilize standard drafting tools and programs to complete tasks
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts related to drafting quality and efficiency
- Research and help resolve design challenges, offering practical solutions
- Support ad hoc assignments and additional tasks as directed by management
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and standards
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required, with coursework in drafting technology
- 1–3 years of relevant drafting/CAD experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Solid problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow professionally
Preferred Qualifications
- CAD certification or specialized technical training
- Experience with 3D modeling tools such as AutoCAD, Inventor, Revit, or MicroStation (industry-related experience preferred)
- Familiarity with AI tools and a general understanding of large language models (LLMs), including their capabilities and limitations
- Demonstrated leadership potential and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
