Electrical CAD Technician

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Electrical CAD Technician to join their growing team in Kansas City, MO. This position will support designers, engineers, and technical staff in developing high-quality drafting and design deliverables for a variety of electrical and utility-related projects. The ideal candidate will have strong CAD experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative project environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist technical teams of detailers, designers, and engineers in developing drafting and design solutions for a variety of projects.
• Support a full range of drawing production activities and project deliverables.
• Produce accurate and timely project documentation while maintaining quality standards and budget requirements.
• Assist with CAD drawing production and project execution activities.
• Print, scan, organize, and submit drawing packages as required.
• Maintain proficiency in current CAD software and drafting technologies.
• Utilize multiple software applications to support project requirements.
• Review and adhere to project scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
• Identify priority tasks and assist in implementing execution plans.
• Communicate workload status and project progress with team members and management.
• Maintain records of client and company CAD standards.
• Provide quality feedback on completed work and deliverables.
• Participate in quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) reviews.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
• Comply with all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Coursework in Drafting Technology or a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a CAD Designer or Drafter.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Electrical Design
  • Electric Distribution Design
  • Overhead Electric Systems
  • GIS Design

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialized CAD certification preferred.
• Associate's Degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related technical field.
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related technical discipline.
• Strong understanding of drafting standards, design documentation, and CAD best practices.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
