Description
Tesla s Cell Infrastructure team is looking for an experienced Electrical Commissioning Project Manager to lead a team through scoping, scheduling, execution, and close out of projects. This role ensures that installation methods and materials used are compliant with Tesla standards and the National Electrical Code prior to energization then performs post energization commissioning activities. In addition to strong project management skills, the ideal candidate will have a strong field intensive background with technical expertise in activities such as: design reviews, pre-energization inspections, post-energization testing, LOTOV/NFPA70E, and completions management. Candidate must have experience with both medium and low voltage power systems. Prior work in cleanroom environments such as semiconductor, pharmaceutical, and healthcare facilities is preferred. A successful candidate must have the ability to work independently, possess strong communication and coordination skills, be detail-oriented, and have availability/flexibility with working hours. They must be able to establish and maintain a professional working relationship with Tesla and contractor teams at various levels across the company. This role has a travel expectancy of 25%.
Lead assigned commissioning projects and perform all phases from design, scoping, scheduling, execution, startup, to turnover
Inspection/verification of electrical systems to ensure installations meet or exceed Tesla standards and NEC
Develop commissioning plans, checklists, field reports, schedule, budget, coordinate temporary power, validate equipment settings, and technical tasks related to electrical commissioning
Champion and enforce Tesla Safety standards for testing energized equipment and LOTOV proceduresodel and maintain arc flash studies
Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT). Coordinate and perform Site Acceptance Tests (SAT)
Maintain communications regarding schedule, budget, and progress updates with key stakeholders
Utilize completions management software such as CxAlloy to document progress and manage the punchlist
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
Minimum of 10 years of electrical engineering or commissioning experience with at least 5 years of project management experience
Safety first mindset with expert level knowledge of LOTOV, MOC, and energization coordination for large-scale complex projects. Working knowledge of NFPA 70E, arc flash studies, and protection
Ability to lead a team of technicians to meet project milestones. Procure and manage contractors
Technical expertise with medium and low voltage switchgear, busways, emergency power cabling, protection relays, UPSs, VFDs, and other electrical systems. Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills with electrical systems
Competence reading of design drawings, submittals, P&ID's, SOW's, SLDs, QAQC reports, and equipment acceptance testing. Must have working knowledge of NETA standards
Strong background in all aspects of scope management including, scheduling, budgeting, and documentation
