Position Details General Statement Montana State University seeks qualified individuals to provide non-tenurable level instruction and/or related functions. Instructors are needed to teach classes depending upon need and available funding.
Applications are accepted on a continual basis unless otherwise indicated and will be maintained in pool for two years. After two years, candidates will be notified to re-submit materials for continued consideration.
The department or program search committees or hiring authority will review and evaluate the submitted application materials. Applicants will be notified if their application is being retained in the non-tenure track faculty hiring pool.
Appointments are on a part-time basis and vary in duration (a couple weeks a semester or an academic year depending on the specific needs of the department/program). Salary is dependent on the number of courses taught and duration.

The Program The Department Our academic programs emphasize hands-on laboratory experience at all levels and encourage student involvement in research discovery and dissemination of new knowledge. Even in the very first course (EELE 101), students get hands-on experience constructing and testing a custom robot project, and many students work in campus labs such as MSUs Microfabrication Facility and the Space Science and Engineering Laboratory.
All faculty members in ECE engage in research and creative activity. Areas of research include acoustics and audio, artificial intelligence and machine learning, communication systems, complex systems and control, digital signal processing, embedded computing, mixed signal design, MEMS, MOEMS, optics, and optoelectronics, power electronics, and power systems.
ECE faculty, staff, and students are active volunteers for local, regional, and international engineering organizations and conferences. Faculty, staff, and students also volunteer for numerous outreach events each year, including FIRST Robotics, Expanding Your Horizons, outreach to K-12 education, engineering competitions, and summer research programs for under-represented groups in engineering.
The College The Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering comprises five academic departments: Chemical & Biological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Gianforte School of Computing, Electrical & Computer Engineering, and Mechanical & Industrial Engineering, and is home to the following research centers:
The College enrolls approximately 3500 students, with more than 200 studying in graduate degree programs. Doctoral degree programs include a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Ecology, and Environmental Science, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, and Mechanical Engineering, and a Ph.D. in Engineering with options in Applied Mechanics, Civil, Environmental, Industrial, and Management Systems.
