Electrical Construction Supervisor

 

Job Description

Responsible for supervising all electrical construction activities for the project, including high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical systems, as well as control and instrumentation. The role is responsible for ensuring that project objectives related to schedule, budget, quality, and safety are achieved in accordance with applicable local and international standards and specifications. The Electrical Construction Supervisor proactively identifies, monitors, and mitigates project risks while promoting a safe work environment and minimizing the potential for accidents affecting personnel, equipment, facilities, and the environment.

 

Main Responsibilities

  • Collaborate closely with the Construction Manager to ensure project milestones are achieved according to the project schedule by verifying that contractors provide adequate staffing, technical resources, and equipment while maintaining project budget objectives.
  • Provide direct supervision and leadership in the implementation and enforcement of Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) policies, procedures, and industry best practices, with the objective of achieving zero incidents and ensuring environmental compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS) for all electrical installations and power distribution systems by witnessing installation activities, reviewing inspection and test plans (ITPs), verifying fabrication and installation protocols, and validating material certifications and service documentation.
  • Foster collaboration and teamwork across multidisciplinary project teams to resolve technical and operational issues through initiative, accountability, adaptability, and effective communication.
  • Demonstrate the highest standards of ethics, professionalism, and social responsibility while maintaining respectful relationships with contractors, project personnel, and company representatives, promoting the organization's core values and professional conduct.
  • Work jointly with the Construction Manager throughout all phases of project planning and execution, ensuring commitments are met, identifying schedule or cost deviations early, and recommending contingency plans to mitigate project risks.
  • Monitor contractor resource utilization, review progress estimates and contract costs, and ensure contractors maintain sufficient financial and operational resources to successfully execute the project.
  • Maintain accurate project records by preparing and issuing official communications documenting project progress, construction activities, and any issues or delays encountered during execution.
  • Monitor and prevent unauthorized or unapproved extra costs that fall outside the original contract scope.
  • Prepare and issue formal documentation related to change orders and extra work requests after they have been reviewed, evaluated, and approved by the appropriate company representatives.
  • Participate in all required training and development programs throughout the duration of the project.

 

Position Challenges

  • Immediately report any imminent safety hazards to the Company's EHS representative and take decisive leadership actions to eliminate unsafe conditions before work continues.
  • In coordination with the Construction Manager, take all necessary actions to ensure project objectives related to schedule, quality, and execution are achieved, while immediately communicating any deviations to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Exercise sound leadership and professional judgment to maintain positive working relationships among all project participants. Avoid unilateral decision-making and promptly report any inappropriate conduct or conflicts to the Construction Manager before taking corrective actions.
  • Prepare weekly project progress reports using the company's reporting format, including supporting photographs and documentation.

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience interpreting and applying quality standards and technical specifications.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of proven experience supervising high-, medium-, and low-voltage electrical installations, including control and instrumentation systems within industrial environments. Experience in cement manufacturing, power generation, oil & gas, or heavy industrial process plants is highly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), AutoCAD, and standard software used for technical documentation and project reporting.
  • Advanced English proficiency (required for international CAPEX projects).
  • Strong leadership, organizational, communication, interpersonal, problem-solving, and teamwork skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
