Build the Future of U.S. Rocket Motor Manufacturing

Nammo Energetics Inc. (NEI) is responsible for the establishment of a new solid rocket motor manufacturing facility in Perry, Florida. NEI oversees the design, construction, qualification, and staffing of this next-generation facility supporting critical defense programs.

At Nammo, we’re looking for an Electrical Controls Engineer to help develop and support the automation systems that will power our manufacturing operations. This is more than a traditional controls role.

You must be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)

What You’ll Do: Precision in Action

Develop & Support Automation Systems

  • Program, troubleshoot, and optimize PLC-controlled manufacturing equipment
  • Support automated and semi-automated production systems
  • Assist with HMI development, machine integration, and controls troubleshooting
  • Support electrical control system design and implementation

Drive Equipment & Process Improvements

  • Identify opportunities to improve reliability, throughput, efficiency, and safety
  • Support commissioning, startup, and validation of new equipment
  • Collaborate with Mechanical, Manufacturing, Process, and Quality Engineering teams
  • Assist with root cause analysis and corrective actions for controls-related issues

Support Facility Growth

  • Help establish automation and controls standards for a new solid rocket motor manufacturing facility targeted for initial production in 2027
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and integrators during design, fabrication, installation, and startup phases
  • Support long-term automation scalability and operational excellence initiatives

What Dedicated Teammates Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience supporting industrial automation or manufacturing controls systems
  • Experience troubleshooting automated manufacturing equipment
  • Understanding of electrical schematics, control panels, and industrial automation systems
  • Experience working with PLCs and HMIs
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills
  • Ability to manage projects and work independently in a fast-paced environment

 Preferred Experience

  • Siemens PLC experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with Siemens TIA Portal, S7 PLCs, WinCC, or related Siemens automation platforms
  • Experience supporting automated manufacturing or assembly equipment
  • Familiarity with industrial networking and communication protocols
  • Experience with robotics, sensors, drives, or motion control systems
  • Manufacturing startup or facility expansion experience preferred

Our Woking Conditions and Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship required)
  • Must be able to obtain BATF approval to work with regulated products
  • Ability to support manufacturing operations outside standard hours when needed
  • Must comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including drug-free workplace requirements.
  • Must be able to work in both office and manufacturing environments.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, bend, and move throughout manufacturing facilities for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Must be able to work in environments that may include exposure to noise, fumes, dust, and varying temperatures within OSHA accepted standards.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 pounds occasionally.
  • Must possess adequate vision, hearing, and communication abilities, with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally as required.
