S.G. Morris Co., a subsidiary of Applied Industrial Technologies (NYSE: AIT), the world's largest fluid power distributor, is looking for an Controls Engineer who will assist our sales force with technical expertise for the design of fluid power systems and customer system integrations. This includes preparing schematics, test procedures and recommend components. You will provide integral project management for these systems.

Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work with AutoCAD LT for wiring diagrams and panel layouts.
  • Fundamental understanding of UL, CE, CSA and NEC. Ability to read and understand these and other standards.
  • Develop control scheme estimate quotes based on customer/salesmen descriptions of potential job requirements.
  • Select electrical components appropriate for applications (mobile, industrial, environmental, etc.)
  • Develop full electrical project schematics and component BOM to meet application requirements.
  • Develop panel layouts. Must understand layout flow for power and logic wiring isolation.
  • Program PLC's and HMI's using RSLogix 500 and Studio 5000.
  • Program HMI's using C_More programming software.
  • Work with shop to insure wiring is in accordance with project requirements.
  • Understanding of mobile controls and components a plus.
  • Troubleshoot electrical issues via phone, e-mail and in person on site at customer facilities.
  • Deal with requests from multiple salesmen at one time.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate projects withbranch personnel, including sales and shop associates.
  • Travel to customer locations occasionally required.
  • Mechanical hands-on assistance may be required on occasion.

Requirements:

  • Degree in engineering, Electrical preferred
  • Working knowledge of CAD
  • Ability to read / understand technical drawings.
  • Fluid Power Industry experience is a plus
