Electrical Data Analyst

Location: Seattle, WA 98104

Role Summary

Leidos is seeking an Electrical Data Analyst to support a utility client headquartered in the Seattle area. This role will support the Automated Meter Infrastructure (AMI) Strategy team and focus on electrical mapping, data validation, and data integrity initiatives. The analyst will be responsible for identifying and correcting discrepancies between Advanced Grid Analytics (AGA) systems and Looped Radial Distribution System (LRDS) GIS mapping while validating transformer-to-meter relationships across the electrical distribution network.

The ideal candidate enjoys working with data, has strong attention to detail, and possesses a background in electrical engineering, GIS, or utility operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Utilize AGA model validation tools to identify and resolve:
    • Electrical phase mismatching
    • Load islanding
    • Model looping
    • Incorrect transformer-to-meter relationships
  • Leverage ESRI ArcMap software to update and maintain the LRDS electrical model
  • Research and analyze discrepancy reports to determine corrective actions
  • Consult data tables and complete meter-to-transformer relationship validations
  • Use Microsoft Access databases to track, verify, and document mapping changes
  • Perform electrical mapping and data integrity analysis activities
  • Validate and maintain utility network data accuracy
  • Conduct field verification activities when necessary to confirm electrical model conditions
  • Support utility data quality initiatives and reporting requirements
  • Collaborate with engineering and utility operations teams to resolve data issues.

Required Technical Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of electrical engineering experience
  • Experience working with detailed data analysis and validation projects
  • Experience interpreting and analyzing engineering-related data
  • Familiarity with GIS technologies and mapping systems
  • Experience utilizing:
    • ESRI ArcMap
    • Microsoft Access
    • Data validation tools
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Ability to conduct research and investigate data discrepancies
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in:
    • Engineering
    • Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
  • Working knowledge of GIS systems and processes
  • Electrical Engineering experience within a utility environment
  • GIS experience within a utility environment
  • 1+ years of electrical distribution system experience
  • Experience supporting utility mapping, asset management, or grid analytics initiatives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or
  • Two years of college-level instruction in Electrical Engineering or
  • Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Minimum 2 years of electrical engineering experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work on detailed, data-oriented projects
  • Strong attention to accuracy, data integrity, and documentation
  • Ability to perform field verification activities as required.

This position supports a utility client in the Seattle area and works closely with the Automated Meter Infrastructure Strategy team. The team is responsible for maintaining accurate electrical connectivity and mapping data that supports grid analytics, utility operations, transformer management, and critical infrastructure systems.
