Job OverviewAmazon Web Services Infrastructure Services is seeking an Electrical Engineer to become part of a global engineering team that designs, plans, delivers, and operates AWS's worldwide infrastructure. The role supports data centers and all related equipment, ensuring continuous access for customers while driving safety, security, and cost‑effective capacity.Key Job ResponsibilitiesParticipate in site selection reviews.Develop data center substation electrical designs and collaborate with other disciplines to create a construction document set.Produce designs that meet or exceed quality requirements while staying within budget.Work with local utilities to define site utility requirements.Review and approve equipment submittals.Define project scope and provide technical support for information requests before and during construction.Work with commissioning teams to test and validate electrical system performance.Manage concurrent projects across multiple geographic regions.Travel to sites for reviews, onsite field engineering, engineering evaluations, electrical system audits, and startup as needed (up to 25% domestic travel and required international travel).Provide creative, out‑of‑the‑box solutions.Basic Qualifications4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities (data centers, power generation, oil & gas).Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.Preferred QualificationsProfessional Engineer license.Experience with building codes and regulations for the applicable region.Experience taking design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production.Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.Travel & LocationPosition may be based in Herndon, VA; Austin, TX; Seattle, WA; or Columbus, OH.
