Position Overview
We are seeking an Electrical Design Engineer I to support the development and enhancement of electrical power distribution equipment. This role will contribute to product design, engineering documentation, testing, and technical support while working with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and compliant electrical solutions.
This opportunity is ideal for an engineer with a strong electrical engineering foundation who enjoys hands-on problem solving, product development, and power systems design.
Responsibilities
Electrical Design
Design electrical systems and components for power distribution equipment.
Select electrical components and assist with thermal design, mechanical packaging concepts, and interconnection hardware.
Design switchboard power and control circuits.
Apply knowledge of analog and digital circuit design, magnetics, and thermal management.
Develop engineering specifications for power protection products.
Documentation & Product Development
Create and maintain engineering documentation, including schematics and bills of materials (BOMs).
Prepare technical reports, manufacturing documentation, and test procedures.
Support the integration and qualification of third-party devices within power distribution systems.
Participate in hardware design reviews to verify product performance and reliability.
Testing & Engineering Support
Provide engineering support for new and existing power protection products.
Troubleshoot electrical systems, assemblies, and subsystems.
Assist with product safety certifications and compliance activities, including UL, CSA, and IEC standards.
Work with engineering and manufacturing teams to resolve technical issues throughout the product lifecycle.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD drafting software.
Experience designing power distribution equipment, including:
Power Distribution Units (PDUs)
Static Transfer Switches (STS)
Remote Power Panels (RPPs)
Switchboards
Preferred Qualifications
Experience using electrical engineering test equipment, including:
Oscilloscopes
Network analyzers
Signal generators
Knowledge of three-phase electrical systems and power distribution.
Strong troubleshooting and laboratory skills.
Excellent written, verbal, and technical documentation abilities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
