This role offers the opportunity to provide end-to-end electrical design support for heavy industrial and agricultural facilities, from initial concept through construction. You will collaborate closely with internal engineering teams and external customers in a consulting-style environment, contributing to projects that support critical infrastructure in agriculture, energy, and material processing industries. The position is ideal for someone who can make an immediate impact in a growing industrial engineering consulting firm and who is comfortable working in a fully remote, hybrid, or onsite arrangement.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams and external customers to deliver high-quality electrical design solutions in a consulting-style environment.
- Provide electrical design support for heavy industrial and agricultural facilities throughout all project phases, from concept development through construction.
- Design and develop industrial electrical systems, including power distribution, grounding, lighting, instrumentation, motor controls, and data systems.
- Produce, review, and modify electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using AutoCAD and Revit, coordinating closely with internal designers and drafters.
- Develop and maintain P&IDs, equipment schedules, motor schedules, field instrument schedules, and related system documentation.
- Perform arc flash and coordination studies for electrical distribution systems using industry-standard tools and methodologies.
- Participate in technical design reviews and ensure all designs align with applicable codes, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and relevant industrial standards.
- Support multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced consulting environment, managing priorities and deadlines effectively.
- Act as a liaison to clients, ensuring project designs meet expectations and are delivered on time and within budget.
- Contribute to projects that support critical infrastructure across agriculture, energy, and material processing sectors.
- Develop new client relationships within the agricultural industry and help expand service offerings for existing and new clients.
- Support the development of new service areas, including dust hazard analysis studies, commissioning and startup support, equipment hazard monitoring verification, and behind-the-meter renewable energy initiatives.
- Attend continuing education courses to stay current with industry trends, technologies, and standards.
- Participate in industry conferences and trade shows to represent the firm and help build brand awareness and client relationships.
- Assist in developing internal tools and processes to streamline proposals, project budgets, and client communication.
- Work effectively in a distributed team environment, contributing to a strong, collaborative culture and supporting colleagues at all levels.
Essential Skills
- Experience in heavy industrial electrical design within agriculture, ethanol, power distribution, material handling, processing facilities, rail, shipping terminals, or similar environments.
- Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems, including power distribution, instrumentation, grounding, lighting, and voltage systems.
- Proficiency with AutoCAD for developing and modifying electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts.
- Working knowledge of Bluebeam for document review and markup.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and OneNote.

- Eligibility to work in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience designing electrical systems for agricultural and industrial facilities.
- Revit experience for electrical design and coordination.
- Familiarity with IEEE standards and industrial electrical engineering best practices.
- Willingness to learn and use arc flash and electrical system coordination software such as SKM or ETAP.
- Hands-on experience with SKM, ETAP, arc flash studies, or coordination studies.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Approximately 8+ years of experience in agricultural and industrial sectors preferred.
- Experience working in a small or startup engineering environment with strong culture and growth potential.
- Interest in supporting new service areas such as dust hazard analysis, commissioning and startup support, equipment hazard monitoring verification, and behind-the-meter renewable energy.
