Job Title: Electrical Design & Test Engineer

Location: Coopersburg, Pennsylvania

Position Summary

The Electrical Design & Test Engineer is an individual contributor responsible for circuit design, component evaluation, and product validation activities. This role combines responsibilities across product design and tester design, including development of test processes and validation strategies. The engineer will support new and existing products through component selection, schematic design, and structured build phases (Alpha, Beta, Gamma), ensuring successful release to production.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop electrical circuits and schematics to support new and existing product designs.
  • Identify and evaluate substitute electrical components based on specifications, circuit functionality, and application requirements.
  • Perform schematic updates and support PCB impact analysis for component changes.
  • Develop tester designs, test processes, and validation strategies for electrical products.
  • Create and execute qualification and validation test plans in collaboration with engineering and quality teams.
  • Coordinate and perform electrical testing with technicians and lab resources while adhering to safety standards.
  • Analyze, document, and communicate test results, including recommendations and next steps.
  • Obtain supplier quotations and support sourcing decisions for alternate or new components.
  • Support staged product build cycles including Alpha (local installation), Beta (customer testing with known limitations), and Gamma (final production release).
  • Develop and execute product cutover and implementation plans.
  • Update bills of materials (BOMs), manage engineering change notices (ECNs), and support manufacturing implementation.
  • Collect and analyze post-production feedback to support continuous improvement.
Key Deliverables
  • Electrical schematics and design documentation
  • Test plans, validation procedures, and test result reports
  • Alternate component evaluation and qualification documentation
  • Updated BOMs and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
  • Project plans and build phase documentation (Alpha, Beta, Gamma)
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Experience as an individual contributor in electrical engineering
  • Experience with circuit design and schematic development
  • Experience with test process development and product validation
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work as an individual contributor within cross-functional teams
  • Nice to have: experience with power electronics
  • Familiarity with schematic design tools (no specific tool required)
