Description
Oxford Solutions is working with a manufacturing and automation-focused client seeking an Electrical Designer with strong control panel design experience. This is an onsite, contract-to-hire opportunity ideal for someone with a solid background in industrial electrical design and UL508A standards.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing control panels used in industrial applications, working closely with engineering teams to deliver accurate and compliant electrical designs.
Responsibilities:
Design and develop industrial control panels using AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and panel layout drawings in compliance with UL508A standards
Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for control panel components
Interpret project requirements, specifications, and applicable electrical codes
Perform electrical calculations including load, voltage drop, and circuit sizing
Select components for AC/DC systems, motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, and related equipment
Collaborate with engineers on control system integration, including PLC and HMI functionality
Ensure all designs meet NEC, NFPA, and industry standards
Qualifications:
Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or related field required; Bachelor’s degree (BSEE or BSEET) preferred
5+ years of electrical design experience with a strong focus on control panel design
Hands-on experience designing UL508A-compliant control panels
Proficiency with AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical
Strong knowledge of electrical theory, industrial automation, and power distribution
Understanding of NEC, NFPA 70, NFPA 79, and UL508A standards
Experience in industrial environments a plus
