REPORTS TO: ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

Electrical Designers create and design the electrical systems and electrical diagrams needed to operate PRI systems equipment.

This is a critical role for the company; this position ensures proper electrical design of the system to make sure it works as designed and meets functional and customer driven specifications.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS

  • Design panel layout and other electrical submission drawings for client approval and to ensure PRI equipment operates as intended
  • Work closely with Engineering, Project Management, plus all other departments in Manufacturing
  • Ensure that electrical installations comply with Class 1 Division 1 & 2 locations and Intrinsically Safe electrical requirements per the National Electric Code
  • Review electrical drawings and bill of materials required to assemble panels
  • Install, pipe, and wire industrial control panels, piping interconnects, and cable raceways
  • Cut openings, mount parts, drill/tap holes as needed
  • Install all necessary cables and wires to their proper connections inside the enclosures and device end-point terminations
  • Test and troubleshoot completed systems and make necessary corrections
  • Record data and write reports to provide feedback to engineering on future design improvement ideas
  • Understand the operation of all equipment to ensure proper assembly and operation
  • Provide assistance to other areas of Manufacturing as needed
  • Some travel to customer sites to support field service requests

Requirements

  • Certificate or equivalent education/experience in electrical design or electrical automation technology
  • Demonstrated aptitude for working with electro-mechanical systems such as pumps, piping, pneumatics, PLC's, liquid level controls, etc.; Strong understanding of electrical schematics and PLC's.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PLC controls
  • Previous experience with Safety procedures such as lockout/tagout, arc flash protection, and confined space entry
  • Experience writing reports and reviewing project files
  • Strong communication skills; ability to perform in pressure situations; ability to be flexible
  • Able to work both independently with little supervision and as part of a team, all with a high degree of professionalism
  • Maneuver heavy equipment, up to 50lbs of lifting required
  • Hands on experience with fabrication and service of large process equipment
  • Advanced understanding of process flow schematics, P&ID's, electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Safe operation of hand and power tools

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Climbing: Ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, poles and the like, using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized.
  • Stooping: Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist.
  • Kneeling: Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees.
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction.
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods of time.
  • Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to-position.
  • Pushing: Using upper extremities to press against something with steady force in order to thrust forward, downward or outward
  • Pulling: Using upper extremities to exert force to draw, drag, haul or tug objects in a sustained motion. The worker is subject to hazards: Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
